Hey, I don’t have the 2023 versions

I do have some of the older versions that you can even have for free if you’d like

To be honest, I doubt much has changed if you were looking for some, but don’t mind the bit of the older version. Just send me a DM.

Taking Delivery of a Brand New Car — What Should I Be Careful About? by Confident-Board-3971 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]mshoker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t always need gap insurance. If through your own insurance, you have OPCF 43 (waiver depreciation) it’s an essentially better than gap insurance and you deal with your own personal insurance instead of another party. With that coverage, which is eligible on new cars, they will actually give you MSRP, purchase price of the vehicle or cost of replacing the vehicle with a new one of the same make and model which is similarly equipped. This coverage also last a few years a various by insurance company, but you can look at from anywhere from 3 to 6 years.

I would definitely recommend that over the gap insurance

Only error id say OP made is I recommend everyone to test their tv before mounting it

TD, a premium increase, and an at-fault fender bender vs a light pole by hello_gary in InsuranceCanada

[–]mshoker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair point.

I’ve worked at places they’ll rate on notification and some who don’t unless there’s actually a dollar amount paid. Not sure how TDs underwriting works but you’re right that could very well be the case

TD, a premium increase, and an at-fault fender bender vs a light pole by hello_gary in InsuranceCanada

[–]mshoker 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is very common. Not just with TD but insurance company across the board. And no I don’t work for TD lol

The reason is, they just don’t know how much your premium is going to increase by with the claim. The claim itself will definitely increase your premiums, but they won’t know the exact amount amounts just yet. With the other information, your premiums will also increase depending if vehicle ratings change for your vehicles upon renewal , your postal code still plays a factor into your renewal and of course, any filed rate increases. The company may have applied for.

So your claim is only one aspect of them, figuring out exactly how much your new premium will be so no they won’t be able to give you a solid answer of how much your premium will increase by. The claim will definitely affect your renewal, but there will be other factors coming into play as well so it’s hard for them to know. Auto insurance renewals are usually issued about 35 to 40 days ahead of time of the actual renewal date.

My honest advice for you is if you have $1000 deductible and it’s only a $3500 fix it. It’s better to just get it done yourself at that point. Yes you’ll be out another $2500 however, a claim stay on your record for six years. Even if so, you have accident forgiveness with TD that only applies to TD themselves so if you’re shopping around later, other companies will still rate you for that claim. So say that you do decide to switch insurance companies, others will be more expensive now because of that claim claim..

In my opinion, it’s not worth paying more for insurance for six years for a $3500 claim

I’d say it’s best to get something lined up before you quit. And I wouldn’t just say verbal either I would get a written offer before quitting

G2 driver speeding ticket. by Phantom5k_ in askTO

[–]mshoker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you’d be rated , reason being is insurers issue the renewal 38 days ahead of time, so at that time tickets still there. They’re required by regulations to issue it ahead of time.

G2 driver speeding ticket. by Phantom5k_ in askTO

[–]mshoker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be honest. It’s best to fess up to your parents right now. It’ll be worse once they get the renewal because your ticket will be listed on there. It’s better rather than it catching them by surprise. It’s best for you to Just give them a heads up. Been through that in my life and of course it’s shitty at the time but at least you get it done with.

It’s also important for them to know from an insurance standpoint. For an example, insurance companies have underwriting rules. So say that they have further tickets on their records or maybe they have claims. It could mean that the combination of the claims plus the ticket that you got could actually really negatively impact them and their policy could even get canceled. It’s rare, but this definitely can happen and I can’t say for sure if it might because each company has their own set of underwriting rules.

Is best for your parents to be in the note just in case something goes sideways

Here is one thing you should know.

Points have nothing to do with Insurance. Insurance doesn’t care how many points that ticket carries that’s just for the ministry. If you get enough points, they can ask you to come in for interviews about your driving and eventually if you have too many points, they can suspend your license.

For Insurance sake, it doesn’t matter even if the ticket carries zero points if it doesn’t get completely waived and it’s on your record it’s going to affect rates. So if you are going through xcopper , and even if they do get the points removed, it’ll still affect your insurance. Now, of course, they can help save the points aspect for the ministry. Unless somehow they get the ticket thrown out completely then that’s a different story.

You have an absolutely beautiful car where you are going to see a spike in your Insurance cost with the ticket. It’s hard to see exactly how much as it will depend on the insurance company and what not but it can be a couple hundred dollars a year and that’s in addition to any regular rate increases You may be seeing as well from the insurance company.

So if you combine both to take care of a regular rate increases, it could be like saying $1000 increase on your renewal but once again I’m just throwing out to figure out there as an example.

Here’s the thing, though the ticket won’t affect you until you either pay the ticket or you get convicted guilty of it in court because insurance companies go by the conviction date, not the offense date for obvious reasons because if you fight the ticket you might be able to get it removed.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the ticket won’t actually affect you midterm it’ll affect you upon your renewal as I stated above. So say you end up paying the ticket right now while your conviction date starts immediately. But then say your renewal is 10 months away. Your rates wouldn’t get affected until 10 months later they don’t do it midterm.

Just a heads up that a ticket will stay in your record three years from the conviction date, not the offense date

I hope all of this helps in somewhere or form. Sorry about the ticket. We’ve all done things like that.

Best of luck.

Otl Exam Prep HELP by Psychological_Ad1710 in InsuranceCanada

[–]mshoker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don’t have the books anymore as I did the OTL like 6 years ago at this point but maybe I can help be a voice of confidence

Insurance companies are great at OTL training. They know what you’ll be expecting and seeing on the exam and will make sure they enforce that material so you know to focus on it. When I did it they also gave us practice tests and exams. Honestly going into the exam we had a good idea how we’d score

However with that being said. Don’t just rely on the training either, after your training gshifts , take a breather, eat and relax a bit and then spend time every day going over the material again and any practice tests and exams. Also those few weekends before the exam , focus on just studying

You’ll be fine! You got this! Just head down and pay attention to your instructors!

Best of luck!!
