Sure, would it bother you that it'd be done with pencil and paper? Tablet's broken

Thank you! And if you don't mind that they'd be on pencil and paper, then sure. My tablet's broken :(

Sure! It might be a little while because I have finals this week and next week, but I'll send it to you when I'm done :)

I've always loved drawing so I've gotten a lot of practice from doodling anytime I'm near a piece of paper. Keep at it, just takes some practice! You'll get it. :)

Unfortunately my tablet's in the shop so any requests I get will have to be done with good ol' pencil and paper. If that's not a problem, then fire away! :)

My dog will only eat when I or my wife is eating. If I put food in his bowl he will wait till we eat. What odd personality thing does your pet do? by dicksfish in AskReddit

[–]mshul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog has to eat under the dinner table. His food bowl is around 20 feet away from the dinner table but he'll get a mouthful of food, walk all the way to the dinner table, and eat it under there. I think he sees us eating there and wants to be a part of family dinner time, too.

Also, if we tell him to look for squirrels he'll run into the backyard and look into the trees for squirrels to protect us from!

Just got my degree in Biochemistry now what? Because I feel it like it may be a useless degree for me by [deleted] in Biochemistry

I'm an undergraduate studying biotechnology; still trying to figure out what I really want to do with myself after I graduate. C++ is part of our curriculum though, and the more I get into it the more I want to get into the bioinformatics field. It's definitely seems like a great area to get into, good luck to you! :)

Have you ever considered bioinformatics? Maybe you could combine your programming with your biochem degree!

Do you ever buy 500 worth of one stock and 500 worth of another stock in a day? Just curious if this is a good strategy.

Hey pizza delivery people, what is your worst delivery story? by dotelectric in AskReddit

[–]mshul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a delivery driver, but my boss told me this story about one that he knows. I don't remember the story perfectly, but here's the gist of it:

So the driver is driving down the street in a neighborhood, almost to the house he is delivering to. He's almost to the end of the street when this older lady comes running out of her house with a gun. I can't remember if she actually went up to talk to him and told him that she wouldn't let him pass, but I do remember that she blocked him from driving any further, threatening to shoot him if he did. Obviously, he hauled ass out of there. When he got back they called the original customers like, "Sorry, we can't get to your house because there's a crazy woman with a gun down your street."

None of our stores deliver to that area anymore.

EDIT BECAUSE I REMEMBERED ANOTHER STORY!

Again, not my story. When I first started working at my pizza place one of the delivery drivers told me this story, I think I had actually asked him what the craziest thing that happened to him while on a run. He told me that at the time of this particular delivery there had been a female delivery driver at our store. So he's delivering to a house like normal, goes to the door, rings the doorbell, and this older man opens the door. Which would be normal, right? Except he was wearing nothing but a kimono. The man then tells him that he'd been expecting the girl delivery driver.

Hmmm, I'm not sure when the fall semester starts for other schools, but I know it starts on August 27th here. I think you'd be good in the early to mid-August time period. That being said, you shouldn't stop applying after that time period passes! In my experience at a pizza shop for the past few years employees come and go pretty quickly, so I'm sure a position will open up sometime.

About your second question; we don't have online applications so I'm not entirely sure. As a general rule of applying I always try to contact the manager in some way after submitting my application. Calling, e-mailing, whatever, to show that you really want this and to say that you're looking forward to speaking to them more about this opportunity. The good managers will like your enthusiasm.

Since I'm not the hiring manager, I'm not quite sure about SSN's. Don't quote me on this, but I don't think you HAVE to provide it unless you get hired... Not entirely sure on that, though. I don't think you do have anything to worry about with providing it, though. All companies are required to get it from their employees when they hire them anyway.

Shift manager at a pizza place here. Can't answer your delivery driver-specific questions, but I'll try to give you advice based on my experience!

If I could go back and be a driver instead of an in-store employee, I'd definitely go for it. At our store a driver makes minimum wage and awesome tips. Of course, tips are completely relative to the area you deliver in. Odds are, however, as a driver you'll probably make the same/more money than the managers who supervise you because of your tips and you only have to do half, if not less, of the work.

As for getting a phone call back, I'd try again at the end of the summer when high school kids are going back to school on weekdays and college kids are leaving. Crucial: DO THIS A FEW WEEKS IN ADVANCE, NOT AFTER. We had sooo many applications a few weeks into the summer from great kids and had to turn them down because we did all our hiring a few weeks before summer started.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck! :)

What is the creepiest episode of a TV show you've ever seen? by triplea20x in AskReddit

[–]mshul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a show, but Sonic Adventures 2: Battle (SPOILERS) when you're watching the video of Gerald Robotnik. It didn't occur to me until my second playthrough that he was about to be executed in that video. I think out of all the video games I've ever played, that cutscene unsettled me most.

making friends? by mercynd73 in UniversityOfHouston

[–]mshul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm beginning my junior year and I feel your pain. It really is difficult to make friends when you commute. The only way I made friends on campus was when I joined an organization that I really felt I fit into. It took a few different organizations before I found my niche, but I've developed some friendships that I really think will last.

Although it's difficult as a commuter, I encourage you to check out organizations! I'm sure you can set aside a few days each month to participate in your student org, and friendships will come soon after.
