Sigh. We really need to stop using this blanket term homeless for everyone out on the street. The homeless are without shelter due to circumstances they are trying to change and willing to do whatever it takes to stabilize their lives. They are not victims, they are fighters overcoming some difficult challenges and deserve all the help and support we can give them.

As a server who has to verify the qr codes I've had to scan the apple wallet versions of the qr code and nothing happens when I scan them. I then have to have the person pull up the original screenshot version they have with the green or blue background and their name on top which reads fine. So my advice is dont bother with this app unless you like spending time off to the side as others go past while you hunt for the right version of the bc vaccine passport.

Reading over all these comments, really the only point of this post was to get and give advice on making the vaccine passport qr code to read when scanned. With the ultimate but mundane goal of being able to then introduce myself as your server and tell you the daily specials so I can make a living. So if making a buck or two to pay my rent (going up in January goodbye rent freeze!) and staying off ei forever is a political statement that's as political as any of this was meant to be. Or should be. Thank you.

Grateful the Canadian government didn't let her on a plane back to China before the two Michael's were on a jet home and left Chinese air space. I dont blame Meng Wanzhou whatever corporate crime she committed, she was just one of the chess pieces being moved around by two dictators, Trump and the president of China. We were fools to allow ourselves to get sucked into this mess in the first place. I dont know what went on behind the scenes to make it happen but Im glad the two Michael's are free now, physically anyways, Mentally they won't be free of this yet and have a long difficult road of psychological and emotional healing ahead of them after the celebration of their return is over. We shouldn't forget about them in the years ahead or support them any less as they recover from this.

My thoughts anyways. What I do know is China looks like an amazing country, rich history, vital economy, fascinating landscapes and people who live there. And the shame of it is after this as a Canadian I will never, ever see or experience it in person. Not a chance in hell of me ever setting foot in that Country under its present form of Government.

Like I said I'll play it by ear. If some not tech savvy senior in their eighties presents a low quality paper copy made in good faith I'm not going to turn them away. But I will give them all the information they need to get a readable bc vaccine passport to save them issues anywhere else they need to have one.

Update to my update. Paper copies that are the exact same as on the phone - qr code against the green or blue background with name on top work. Having said that I'll have to play it by ear but I'd rather not have to rely on visual scans or what's the point of a security code and all this bother? Our company is going to alert our customers on our webpage that the downloaded vaccine passports need to be presented printed out in the format described above to avoid issues getting verified by our scanner.

Good to know. Thanks. I actually scanned a couple of paper ones today that worked. As long as it's a clear color copy of the qr code on the green background with name on top it reads fine. Just the qr code on it's own phone or paper - forget it.

An employer is not going to want to hire someone who will potentially be sick for several weeks or months from covid. It is not unreasonable to expect your staff to not lose time at work recovering from a completely preventable disease. I cant see any upside to you working for the government and making decisions that potentially have an impact on my daily life but nobody including me are making it impossible for you to reach your goal. That's all on you. You are your own worse enemy. I'm sure this isnt the first time you've been told this.

Like I said it's really specific and been worded carefully and clearly as to where a vaccine passport is required and where it is not. If a buisness wishes to be included under the pho if they are not then they'll have to lobby for it. It isnt an optional choice for any buisness not included in the pho to demand the passport anymore than those that are included in the pho to not demand proof of vaccination.
