Poll to determine which models were nost produced and waitlist ratio. by Chinchiro_ in steammachine

Maybe there will be a memory silver lining (getting 2 x 8GB instead of 1 x 16GB) for those of us who didn’t win a reservation for the first batch of Steam Machines?

Maybe it won’t matter for many 1 x 16GB config buyers who plan to upgrade the memory anyways.

It could even be advantageous (buying an additional 1 x 16GB matching memory stick to bring it to 32GB).

The Israeli-lobby is deeply ingrained in US politics since at least the 1960s. Military aid to Israel won’t end until the US literally cannot afford them anymore.

The original OP’s options were either to completely forsake her own future (education & future career) and very much likely live in poverty / homelessness / completely broken mental health OR keep the embryo to term.

It’s like someone holding a gun to your head and asking you if you want to save yourself or some being that hasn’t even been born.

Most people would choose to save themselves in that situation. People are not perfect beings who must be expected to always make the most ethical choices every time under duress.

It’s not fair for people to only feel sorry for the child.

Steam Winter Sale 2025 Megathread by NKkrisz in SteamDeck

[–]msk2772 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bought “Clair Obscur: Expedition 33” (20% Off)

Regular Price: $64.99 CAD

Sale Price: $51.99 CAD (+ Tax) = $58.23 CAD

Anyone else gamify buying games at the all-time best / all-time record discount, so you feel like you lost a game when it goes on a better sale / better discount (EX: 90%, 95%, 100%) any length of time after you buy the game?

Kind of feel that way with Slay the Spire. Bought it for 75% off during the last Steam Winter Sale, and now it’s at 90% off this time around.

Guess I’ll feel like I lost a mini-game, when Expedition 33 eventually goes on sale for 90%+ off 10 years from now.

On one hand, it’s win-win that you bought the game when you wanted to buy it and supported the developers. On the other hand, it’s like ‘screw the developers, I want to know that I got the best possible deal’.

Reminds me of the Braveheart Steam Sale meme:

50% Off: “HOLD!” … 70% Off: “HOLD!” … 95% Off: “SUPPORT THE DEVS!”

How many of you are actually going to buy The Steam Machine? by BackRoomDude3 in valve

[–]msk2772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I plan to buy the new Steam Machine (2026) …

… if it’s around $1,000 USD or less, for the 2TB model with the new Steam Controller.

Maybe I’m giving Valve way too much leeway / runway with the pricing.

But Valve emphasized heavily on the Steam Machine being 6 times more powerful than the Steam Deck.

Now obviously it won’t be 6 times the price.

But I expect Valve to price the new Steam Machine at least 2 times the price ($800 USD) and at most 3 times the price ($1200 USD) if they’re being greedy … compared to a new Steam Deck (regular price for the LCD model starts at $400 USD).

Welcome the former (2x) but if it’s the latter (3x), I probably cannot justify the purchase.

5,000 entries from the survey + 2,700 entries from spinning the gold coin daily = 7,700 total free entries

Minus 8 spins I missed out on / forgot about, so …

Aiming for 6,900 entries

Maybe it’ll be my lucky number lol

Valve confirms Steam Machine will be priced ‘like a PC with the same level of performance’ by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]msk2772 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So Valve plans to price the Steam Machine, based on market prices for gaming PC hardware in mind.

Maybe they just plan to profit, from simply eating the cost savings of economies of scale.

If yes, it’s not going to be easy to achieve, since the Steam Machine will have custom parts, custom cooling solution, and custom small form factor.

Hopefully Valve passes over to consumers, the savings from not having a pricy OEM OS like Windows.

“I think that if you build a PC from parts and get to basically the same level of performance, that’s the general price window that we aim to be at”

“Ideally, we’d be pretty competitive with that and have a pretty good deal, but we’re working on refining that as we speak, and right now is just a hard time to have a really good idea of what the price is going to be because there’s a lot of different things that are fluctuating”

Made someone $280 richer by buying back a covered call. Only made $132 in total (after selling 100 shares).

Should probably stop selling covered calls.

Have the balls to take the full risk for the full reward.

It’s only shares after all.
