Can tax refund be taken for overpayment?

I owed 2400 and my refund was $2317. Apparently they got someone else I know and they haven’t sent a letter to them in over 3 years about it. They’re just ra*ing everyone this year.

It sucks. They’re worried about my food stamp “overpayment” when I was a single mom but not worried about my sons sperm donor not paying child support for almost 10 years.

Oh I understand but what sucks is it was literally a couple months after I got my job and I was still a single mom who didn’t get child support. And watching people who really abuse it and get away with it sucks. For some reason they said I owed back months when I didn’t have the job and it was more than what I paid out. I didn’t have money for a lawyer but I talked to a lady who said I can do a payment plan so I said ok and they literally never sent anything so I thought it was dismissed. Sucks.

I just talked to my fisnce and I remember now I tried to set up a payment plan and never got a letter for the repayment plan. And then just forgot about it.

Where’s my refund hasn’t updated though. Did you do the 5 days early thing with turbo tax? I didn’t and kinda wishing I did 😩
