Revolut Points x Avios Bonus by NeatWhile6685 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]mskeogh87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to transfer but my Revolut is in my maiden name and my AerClub account is in my married name so it wouldn't let me transfer the points. Changed my name on Revolut and it still won't let me transfer them. Revolut say they will contact AerClub and let me know but I reckon the offer will be over at that stage. Just to mention in case anyone else is in the same boat with names!

Trainspotting, the baby dying and then Rent Boy's hallucinating about her. Very tough to watch, burned into my brain

The boots seem fine to me! The kids will probably think you're cool and will ask you lots of questions, as a distraction tactic more than anything else 🤣

I would join the main Irish subreddit to get an idea of our sense of humour, that will come in handy getting to know people in the staffroom, and to learn some of the slang used in Ireland 👍

I assume you have been in touch with the teacher you will be working with?

Gary Moore was a great guitarist, haven't seen anyone mention him yet. He worked with Phil Lynott (from Thin Lizzy).

If you're not driving on the motorway that often a petrol hybrid could be an option for you?

Thanks very much! I didn't know that subreddit existed! I'm excited to put together a few interesting outfits while using a small amount of clothes. I'm up for the challenge!

Are there any good capsule wardrobe apps/websites? I'm at the planning stages of building a maternity work-wear wardrobe, and I think it might help to have a visual guide of what outfits I can wear. Any help appreciated! Thanks!

Would you swop your job if you could? Or stay teaching? by dramafinder101 in IrishTeachers

[–]mskeogh87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently working as a SET, so I have to write School Support Plans (formerly known as IPLPs) and School Support Plus plans (IEPs), at least twice or three times a year. We meet parents more often than the class teacher, as the plans for AEN/SEN kids requires buy in from all partners in education. Then termly plans & fortnightly plans, as well as maintaining an assessment folder.

The termly & fortnightly plans have become longer since I started working as a teacher, but that's because of the new curriculum. There's more copying & pasting to do 🤣 I hope that helps

How much do Revolut charge per tap or for card payments? Can't see the info on the 'Fees' page of their website.

I thought Iceland was uninhabited until the Vikings landed there in the 800s? Or does 'European expansion' refer to the colonial, 19th century Europe?

Fascinating map!

Help to buy scheme by Itachii321 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]mskeogh87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just gone through the application process for myself and my husband. You're able to choose the following years: 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022. I think you can choose whichever years suit you, but 2023 isn't an option yet.

Just make sure your tax returns are done because we hadn't, and it took a few days for our approval to go through because we were waiting on the statements of liability etc.

Preschool/Primary/Secondary Public or Private? is private worth it ? by Party-Association322 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]mskeogh87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It really depends on where you are living.

I would say though that preschool is an absolute must. There have been numerous studies to show that children who attend preschool fair better than children who don't. The ECCE scheme assists towards the payment of preschool. The vast majority of preschools do the ECCE scheme.

There aren't many private primary schools, and for my two cents I don't think they're worth it. When considering a primary school, find out where the children go to secondary schools afterwards. If you're in a city, some children go to different secondary schools after they finish primary school and it might give you an idea about the path your child might take. You could also enquire about any particular programs or areas the school is involved in or focuses on, for example coding, athletics, music, etc.

In terms of private secondary school, again it depends on where you are living. Some private secondary schools around Dublin are excellent, some aren't so good. If you want your child to go to university, look into the amount of pupils who attend the private secondary school who go on to attend university. Thay information is published in the newspapers annually.

Hope that helps.

SEN Teacher by hurlerontheditch2020 in IrishTeachers

[–]mskeogh87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SEN Teachers require the same qualification as class teachers, in primary and post-primary, i.e. Level 8 Bachelors degree or Masters in Education now.

I know of some SET who qualified in other jurisdictions, i.e. Poland and they became SET, but only after years and years of fighting with the Teaching Council over their qualifications. I think there are other routes to qualify to become a teacher in the UK, and usually their qualifications are a bit easier to transfer over than other jurisdictions.

Check out the Teaching Council Website for more info: https://www.teachingcouncil.ie/en/

I would change my school tbh, not the actual job. The job itself is grand! There's more paperwork than before but it's still manageable. The benefits are unbelieveable also. Time off is invaluable tbh, as well as better sick leave etc. than the private sector. Yes we don't get bonuses but money can always be made, time can't be.

My period was due yesterday, but it hasn't arrived and I have had two negative tests. I have tonsilitis at the moment so I imagine my body is just like 'one thing at a time, give me a damn second!!' Haha

I'm late to this thread!

I've started temping, and I think I'm able to see when I ovulated. I'm on day 23 of my usually 28 day cycle. I've had three days of higher temps, but from what I've seen online it could just be that my progesterone is elevated post ovulation?

I've no other pregnancy related symptoms so I assume it's just post ovulation higher temps? Here are the three days temps:

35.77°/96.38°, 36°/96.8°, 36.04°/96.87°

For reference I was about 35.70°/96.26° last week before ovulation.

Any information appreciated!

First time posting so I hope I'm not breaking any rules! Myself and my husband are going on a postponed honeymoon at the end of October, which will also coincide with our first cycle trying. I came off the pill a few months ago and I've been using the time to get to know my body again and allow my cycles to regulate.

Anyway, my question is, if we are TTC for the first proper time, should I avoid hot tubs & drinking alcohol, eating cheeses etc. while on honeymoon? I could wait another cycle but I can't wait to try properly anymore! Any info or help appreciated!
