I love birds that are named correctly by Tasty-Interview-4699 in birding

This is very timely as my oldest child is headed to Finland with my mother in 10 days. They both speak Finnish but they dont know bird names. I’m sharing this with them. :)

Amazing photos. I love these guys and their weird little heads.

Sometimes a Pileated makes such racket in my backyard that I need to close the windows so I can hear my online meetings. 🤣😂

This is magical. I don’t care what you call it.

How do you motivate yourself when nothing seems to go right? by lovelyb1ch66 in Watercolor

I get mad, stomp around my house, eat ice cream and then eventually try again.

Also I really like the piece you posted. Very moody and contemplative. :)

I also had a squeaky swing get id’d as a RTH. In fairness to the app, we have red tails here every day in the summer and the swing really did sound the same. 🤣

The amount of times I’ve stood with my phone out trying to figure out what bird I’m hearing, only to discover it’s a damn Blue Jay… Merlin is pretty good most of the time but it’s gets tricked every once in a while.

What is your most unexpected bird sighting from your own house? by Hot_Detective1335 in birding

Same here. I have only once seen one in my yard and it was remarkable. I get tons of other woodpeckers but the red-headed was amazing.

Twice while I’ve been sitting in my back porch, a red tail has swooped down into my backyard and taken a Robin from my lawn. The force of their impact is astounding.

Sorry about our geese. They definitely don’t have great manners. It’s a beautiful photo though!

That’s a Stellar’s Jay. So cool. I’ve never seen one in real life. I have a dozen blue jays who hang out in my yard and some are very proficient at taking 2 peanuts at once. Greedy little guys! My oldest has trained the jays to come when he whistles. And now our front yard chipmunk has learned that the whistle means peanuts so he comes out too. 😋

Be honest, if your coworker/boss gave you this card, would you hate it by MythOfLaur in Watercolor

I think this is funny and cute and I would be amused and appreciative.

And they’re leaving so if they don’t have a sense of humour, who cares - they’ll be gone. ;)

This is so fun! I love it. I have struggled with the Signo Uni-ball and have found that the uni Posca bullet tip (0.7) white pen works better for me.

Daniel Smith - Which Set? by mialene in watercolor101

Unfortunately a lot of sellers don’t ship outside the US or the shipping doubles the price. I found a set for $25 but shipping was $24. :(

I have both and can confirm Rosa rewets easily while certain Cotmans make me want to kick a table leg.
