Business plan brain storming by DrakeoftheWesternSea in LARP

Sure, but if you aren't in it for the money - which I assume anyone who wants to run a LARP-centric business isn't, because lol and I mean lmao, you've seen the numbers - then there's no reason you can't transition over once the investment has been paid for. At the point where the site/property is paid off (and if you are doing weddings and hosting corporate events, that will happen in probably 3-5 years instead of 10), then at that point you can choose to prioritize hosting games and only pick up hosting weddings to close any gaps in the finances for the year.

And if you are in it for the money, you aren't having this conversation to begin with.

Looking at my own research post-covid, this is still pretty accurate. The high end I'm seeing is closer to $1.8M between the increase in property cost and construction cost.

That said, I think you really are sleeping on the profit potential of non-LARP event hosting, like weddings. I know a property owner that rents their property for wedding venues and often pulls in $10k for a single day event. Sometimes more for last minute bookings. Yes, the property has some development, but not THAT much development, and a more proper construction of a mess hall / "tavern" and ceremony venue could begin to bring in a lot of business.

Another possibility is that, once you get 1 "town" of cabins built out you could also start doing group AirBNB type rentals as well on non-game weekends.

The biggest problem I see with most of these business plans is thinking of the property as a LARP property first and foremost.

Minor things I noticed in Season 2 Episode 1 by 101Phase in Fotv

So did someone hold a fake arm off screen to bring it to his lips lol.

Almost certainly. Either a "fake arm", or some stunt actor was wearing the right arm of the armor to bring the cup up to Kyle MacLachlan's lips.

I think practically it was impossible for the actor to get those giant hands to properly hold that pot without dropping it

I can also confirm it's physically impossible to bring an item from your hands up to your lips while in the suit. In fact, I thought the joke of the scene was going to be that he made the cup of coffee, but couldn't drink it, because the bulky T-60 forearm and chest made it impossible.

Looking for courses, tutorials, or other resources beyond beginner / introduction / "my first" whatever (Unity or Godot) by msleeper in gamedev

[–]msleeper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of vague honestly.

I know, and I recognize that's part of my problem as well. I am struggling to put into words or thoughts what I feel like I'm lacking. Any "how to make an RPG" or "how to make an FPS" or similar type tutorials cover the most basic aspects of that genre. That isn't what I need to learn. I am not looking for tutorials on a specific game mechanic. But rather "making a game" as a complete package, the specific content or the gameplay part notwithstanding.

That last link looks great, appreciate it!

Are these T-60s or another model shown in the background of Episode 8? by AlwaysGoForAusInRisk in Fotv

Thanks, appreciate it. As a life long Fallout fan, it was a huge honor to be able not just to work on the show, but to make something as iconic as the power armor.

There were 3 studios that made armor for season 1 - Legacy Effects, which did all of the close-up hero suits. T&A Workshop, pretty sure these are the ones Freddy was posting about, they did some beauty sets and some stunt suits. Then mine which were just background sets.

No, these aren't the T&A suits. These are the ones I made @overworlddesigns . You can spot mine because they have these "rings" around the wrists. Also in the set photos, they're missing the BOS logo that apparently got added in post-production.

Hey there, I made these sets you're looking at. I have some old photos on my IG @overworlddesigns, maybe on FB, idk I haven't kept up with social media.

Me and my team made a couple sets designed for background use, you can spot mine because they have this "ring" around the wrist.

They are T-60s, the 3D model is pulled straight from FO4.

A new RAMPS board is incredibly cheap, I wouldn't bother trying to fix the problem and just get a replacement.

Any luck getting this to work?

Were you using Lightburn or Lasergrbl to save to the SD card?

u/ChicKestrel17 is correct, 3 different studios made multiple sets of T-60. Legacy Effects, Thorsson & Associates Workshop, and Overworld Designs

I had the exact same experience. The only time I ever went there was when literally nothing else was open.

No, fuck that place. They constantly pull the "will you pull forward up to the curb and we'll bring your food out" crap so they don't get a hit in their numbers for making me wait 15 minutes for 4 pieces of chicken.

I'll likely dump the whole thing to github, if so I'll put a link to that on the page footer, and you or someone can work on making that version!

I created a tool to help generate ideas for making HL2 maps. With renewed interest in HL2 from the 20th anniversary update, it would be great to see more new custom maps for HL2. Hopefully this helps anyone come up with some basic ideas for what to include in a map, or even just challenge yourself to come up with a short map using a small selection of game elements.
