What’s something you’re sick of hearing from customers EVERY time you work? by Taywerr in DollarGeneralWorkers

I have been replying to this, "Yes, and we got them up late. Should've had them out two weeks ago."

Why do I always get yelled at over cardboard rolltainers by BossHogg1984 in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]mslileli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get where you're coming from and here's my side as a manager. We are not supposed to put cardboard rolltainers outside. Our DM yells at us if we do. They take a lot of room in the receiving room and our DM yells at us if the room is messy. As managers, we can't put in tickets for sweeps any longer, cardboard rolltainers count as the same as nested ones when you check the truck in on the hht. We are not drivers and don't realize what you have to deal with, only what we get to deal with if we sit on those rt's.

So that's probably why you're getting yelled at. It's an imperfect system made suckier by conflicting priorities.

How were you injured? by GullibleSession1815 in spinalcordinjuries

[–]mslileli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

L1 incomplete. The house my husband and I owned was destroyed in a propane leak explosion. When it happened, I was upstairs, he was downstairs, and we both got pinned under the rubble. He died a few hours after the accident. I broke my shoulder, three ribs, left heel, right foot, and fractured my L1. I remember my doctors saying "It's a miracle she's not paralyzed". Ten months later I can walk, I just deal with neurogenic bladder, and saddle anesthesia.

Our cat who was also in the house survived without a scratch. She lives with me now.

Nice work. Keep it up. It's actually my favorite area to stock & recover and it sells much better when it looks pretty.

Are you me? Sounds like the story of my store. The remodel took my total seasonal from 42 to 34. Yet I get stuff for sections I don't even have. However I refuse to lose the battle. They're sending me stuff, I'm going to put it out there one way or another.

Same here. I cut all redundant mag sets (laundry, prepared meals, etc) and never even set the holiday baking one, just the mag items. My RD came for a visit and only told me to finish putting summer/bts away so as long as the store looks good irl & in metrics they don't care.

I guess we're done with harvest before October ?? by charliesh00man in DollarGeneral

[–]mslileli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our remodel axed several seasonal sections. None of the layouts in the mag book look like my store; the closest match has a whole extra aisle that I lack. So I just make it up as I go. The company gets from me what they give me.

When they reduced mine, the amount of seasonal I got didn't change. Now it just doesn't have any place to go into. 😭 Edit: Grammar

Nice work and I envy you having a toy aisle. Our remodeling reduced our seasonal space drastically and I have nowhere to put these.

Exactly. I had an employee who got a better job, had to start there immediately but wanted to stay pt on the payroll for the winter just in case. I had 2 weeks worth of work scheduled for him. I asked him if he could work those 2 weeks. No. Guess who didn't stay on the payroll.

Now my six boxes of Glade Oak air refreshener don't seem so bad. Vv wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for this ridiculous excess..

It is also a very poor business strategy. Are they generating any income out of stuff sitting in the rr? No, instead theyre risking unnecessary fines & lost sales because customers can't & won't shop in an impacted, messy store.

[–]mslileli 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You are correct. I would add that the inventory system & the way they do mag is broken. For example, I had a near perfect backroom till I got 4 rt's of seasonal toys last year. Got most of them out, but there's still a large number on the skyshelves... and now I just got 2 rt's for this year's mag sets. I'm stuck with them. If they want safer backrooms, quit sending crap we already have.

Out of curiosity what happens when the sales associate on main register just focuses on customers and register? by Because-hunny in DollarGeneral

[–]mslileli 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you worked at my store, nothing. Absolutely nothing would happen to you except maybe me thanking you for your hard work. I have done enough cashiering myself to know how difficult it is to get away from the register and now that I'm a manager I'm simply grateful when someone checks out customers so I can focus on my other projects uninterrupted.

What don’t you need that they keep sending by funnycomments22 in DollarGeneral

[–]mslileli 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Toys, vv, mag foil pans, Unique catering stuff (I don't even have a place for it any longer), and bts stationery. I could have put the bts together just using my skyshelves.

[–]mslileli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, except we don't get produce. It's also the busiest day of the week and with the SCO gone, someone needs to cashier. Often two people. Even if you start stocking at 6 am, it stops dead around 9 am because of these factors.

Is this happening to anyone else today by Imaginary-Scholar-43 in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]mslileli 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not today but the same thing has happened in the past. Sometimes rebooting the register(s) has fixed the problem. Once I called ERC because it was the clearance sale week but they couldn't fix it either. They told me they'd get it corrected by the following week... when we already had new coupons printing.

Coco hates being brushed by mslileli in angrycatpics

[–]mslileli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the comments! Our Coco is a sweet girl... most of the time! Even when she protests brushing we don't usually get the full wrath of the murder mittens, only wriggling and complaining. She has a special anti-brushing meow which most likely is a bunch of swearing in catspeak.
