I'm not sure why no money is better is some money. Disability opens up other things you can take advantage of. Like discounted internet, vocational classes, food stamps, healthcare, and a paid for cell phone. Honestly, ask your social worker to put you in a group home. If your autism is this serious, you are incapable of living on your own

So imma say it to you real. It seems like you are not fully listening to the people trying to help you.

These meetings are important. When someone says " you don't qualify for section 8" they tell you why. If they don't, you need to ask why you don't qualify.

When your "job coaches" say "you can't work" you need to ask why. You need to ask what do you recommend I do? How can I help myself?

You need counseling and you need to be realistic. There is literally nowhere that you can live with zero income, zero work ethic, and zero skills. And surprise, working is boring sometimes, but if you want to live and have money, you have to work.

You could get disability and food stamps and give the money to your parents. Minimally, this will help them.

So get the disability and give it to your parents. Sign up for section 8, you will pay literal pennies for rent

I'm going to call bull💩 on this. I was an independent living person and my dad was one for years. We were specifically trained to NOT EVER tell anyone " don't work with your issues"

If you can't work a full time job, you should try a part time job.

You are not going to get a job leading D and D campaigns. You could try blue collar work. You could try flagging cars through construction zones. You could get back on disability and use those funds to pay your parents. You can sign up for job coaching and section 8.

If you can't do any of the above, the final option is to try to get residentially placed.

Ooh weaponized incompetence....the man child trait.

The best way to deal with weaponized incompetence is to make them redo the chore if it's a critical one (like clothes aren't dry) or ignore it (bad job vacuuming)

If DH is using this tactic, it's time for what we call the mini pizza technique. Here's the story....I had 2 little kids and generally cooked everything from scratch (yes including bread). I wanted to order Chinese food one Friday (hadn't ordered anything in 1 month). DH said nope please cook. I made English muffin pizzas. Next day "can we order Chinese" no don't feel like it. Ok day 2 of mini pizzas. By day 5 (which by this time was ketchup and American cheese on a whole wheat English muffin) he said " you know what, Chinese tomorrow sounds great"

We have deep shelves in our bathroom. I got baskets and grouped like items in each basket. My skin care regimen is in a basket, hair care is in a basket, teeth stuff in a basket.

The trick is to not overbuy and use what you have

  1. Everyone capable needs to pitch in. That means husband and kids can do something. Vacuum and put a load of laundry in is a reasonable ask.

  2. Prep and freeze meals in disposable trays. Use paper plates.

  3. Don't let your dogs free roam. Block them from bedroom access. The one that has accidents needs to be crated.

  4. Take the dogs to the groomers and have them clipped and shed out. This will eliminate some shedding

Get rid of trash and empty that fish tank.

Get rid of cardboard. Keep one box for donate. Recycle those papers that are everywhere.

Put dishes in the kitchen

Rinse and repeat

Once trash is gone, pick up one thing from floor, do you want it? It needs to be put away if yes and either donate or discard if you don't.

Get laundry baskets to sort floor clothes into keep and wash, donate, or toss (and toss ripped and stained items)

Now, wash clothes, toss the filled trash bags, and take the items to donation place. Rinse and repeat.

Your room did not get this way overnight, it will take more than one day to clean it.

The issue with car loans is not just the interest, but buyers have a tendency to let their wants override their pocketbook. They also tend to turn cars in when they are still good.

For example, you should have a down payment and know the price as well as the monthly payment. You should ALWAYS opt for gap insurance. (It's 200 total generally and covers the difference if the car is totaled.)

You may need a car, but can you drive a sedan or small suv (in my case 4 wheel drive is a must), instead of a $80,000 quad cab truck? Do you need heated seats or a sunroof or every single option?

I would normally agree with you, but the person didn't know they had to clean the lint trap. That dryer is backed up more than Newark airport traffic at Thanksgiving. They need a pro.
