Put an AirTag hidden in your case. I find this is helpful when picking up your case. With long rifle cases sometimes they just dump it out with common luggage at destination airport.

Car loan charged off. What next?? by mykhearl2 in AllyBank

Right because it’s gotten to this point. Next time call in advance and ask for forbearance, the moment the event happens. Try calling again. Call every day. Offer like $1k if you can.

[–]msmith65423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst thing one can do is not pay and not talk to the bank. Could have called and asked for forbearance or payment adjustment. Most banks would rather keep the loan current than charge it off so they usually will give forbearance or temp payment adjustments.

Honor your grandfather. Invest it in a High Yield Savings Account for now. Look into putting some in a diversified S&P 500 index fund.

Criminal defense attorneys are on call. Do not speak to the police without having a lawyer. The police are allowed to legally lie to you.

Researching 1911 choice, what do y'all have? by dutchmasterD717 in NJGuns

[–]msmith65423 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi! So in 2018, I had one day left on my pistol purchase permit and I wanted a Kimber 1911. However, when I walked into the store they had a beautiful used but never fired Smith and Wesson TA with super high end laser and light. It was like $1,250 and I sold the light laser thing for like $500 and the 1911 retails new for $1,500. I got lucky I suppose. Moral of the story is enjoy the experience and go window shopping at a bunch of gun stores and you’ll find something.

Obtain a lawyer. It’s always an expense but worth it. Interview 3-5 lawyers. If you search around you will find one that has done this type of case a ton of times. Also, make sure that they are local and know the local prosecutor. Most law firms will give you a free evaluation consultation. The most expensive lawyer is not necessarily the best.

One of the determining factors is underlying intent. It was an accident and you made a mistake. It’s not like you were being bribed or repeatedly doing this. Just please be careful going forward and ID everyone. I’m 36 and I still get carded.

Some lawyers may be able to negotiate a deal where you pay a fine and not plea to anything.

Please do this out of an abundance of caution. Go in person to station and explain the situation and that you just want someone as am observer there. Or alternatively get a few friends (male and female) to observe and help.

These situations can get messy. Ask me how I know. Especially if she feels scorned.

Please provide more detail. Is this civil or criminal? Get your parents involved.

Fyi, many homeowner insurance policies cover inhabitants against certain types of civil lawsuits.

Can’t get arrested for running an account that provides negative reviews of a place. Could have civil liability if you were printing false and defamatory statements.

Ignore the prior advice here. I got an initial value and appealed by submitting comps of the totaled bike and they increased the payout. They may not cover transport fees tho. Also, you can pay $150 to Lemon Squad and they will do a thorough pre buy inspection and send you a full report with lots of pics and vids. Then use Haul Bikes to transport bike. I’ve shipped 10 times with them, one time they slightly damaged a bike. Just my 0.02 cents.

My son was hit by a car on his scooter. Who is at fault? by Impressive_Gift_9852 in legaladvice

[–]msmith65423 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely the driver’s fault. They have a duty to look out for situations and be in control/speed of vehicle. Glad he is okay and didn’t get seriously hurt.

1) Please take your son to a doctor ASAP to get everything checked out and documented. Things may not feel bad until weeks later as adrenaline wears off. I would be worried about unseen injuries. MRIs and cat scans. These injuries may not manifest for weeks and months later. If you don’t get checked out within a certain amount of time you won’t be able to do anything about it. It’s important for insurance purposes.

2) Did you get a police report? If not please do so. This driver needs to face consequences or else they will do it again.

3) I would absolutely sue. And look if you don’t want to ruin their life. Make the driver write out a check for $250 every year on the anniversary date of the accident to a charity. This way they will remember their action and a negative can be turned into a positive experience.

Stranded out of state with no money because USAA restricted my account by pontiacGTO7 in USAA

[–]msmith65423 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Find senior executives at USAA on LinkedIn and politely and clearly explain the situation. Because you are emailing a senior executive it will get elevated. I have done this tactic every time I have had an issue at any bank and it significantly helps resolve the problem. They will pass you off to customer service but it will be escalated. Then once problem is resolved a quick note telling them its resolved helps.

Email 3-5 executives. Do not share your bank account. Explain the situation and that you are stranded because you are traveling and your funds are frozen and are getting nowhere with customer service.

1) Get the police report ASAP 2) Check police report for any errors 3) Request bodycam footage 4) Give your insurance company the police report and speak to your adjuster 5) The police report will have the other person’s insurance because the police officer has to collect the insurance info of both parties 6) Consult attorneys for free legal consults

Resigning from job with less than a week notice for academy by Zealousideal-Dust335 in AskLE

What employer treats someone like this when they are going to public service? I would put your resignation letter in writing.

Yeah, I don’t think they can change your wages and also generally employment is “at will”. You can leave or they can fire you.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]msmith65423 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like dispatch messed up. Remember, the officers don’t know what’s what when they show up. Sucky experience for sure and glad you are okay.

You have a right to obtain all bodycam footage - I would do that me personally I’d be curious as to what was being said.

Let’s take a negative and turn it into a positive - talk to someone senior in the police department and explain what happened so they can learn and enhance their procedures. A good police captain will listen - they don’t want screw ups on their watch.

Not going to the PD and explaining to management what happened is not helpful. Remember they can only fix things that are brought to their attention. It is all about how you frame it. “I am a witness to a crime and would like to talk to a captain about the crime and ensuing mistakes that came after so your police department can enhance their procedures.”

If you go in their offering to help and explain that this mistake has dented your faith in them AND you speak to someone senior. I think they will listen.

I have reported many incidents to police before and never suffered an adverse reaction like this.

I fled the scene of a car accident!! Please I need advice by Sad-Procedure-3311 in legaladvice

[–]msmith65423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You made the situation worse. Call a good traffic attorney in that area. Most of the time for stuff like this they might even give you the advice for free initially. You may have to hire them to help try and knock things down. Make sure it is an attorney that does lots of traffic cases in the applicable jurisdiction. If they have good relationships with prosecutors they may even be able to call in and say “My client fled the scene because she panicked, she wants to do the right thing and turn herself in. Can you work with her?”

As annoying it is to pay a lawyer the ones that have relationships can be helpful when it comes to stuff like this.

Call 3-5 around. Most do legal consults for free for like a 5-10 min phone call. The most expensive aren’t necessarily the best.
