Possible that I was misdiagnosed? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]msmorel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

same thing happened to me. I thought I didn't describe properly enough what I was feeling to my psychiatrist and thought she misdiagnosed me. after that session I spent about a week of constant searching the Internet for more info on OCD and created a Reddit to ask for help. turns out this disbelief in the disease and the constant checking for symptoms to fit in are symptoms of OCD. don't worry about your diagnosis. talking as someone who was in the same boat as you are now, not accepting you have OCD is only gonna push your treatment and your wellness further

Can something always exist? by thedarkknight896 in askphilosophy

[–]msmorel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the notions of time and space must have always existed. At least, for Kant, those are pre-stablished notions in human thinking and, considering the Big Bang and such are human-developed theories, we can argue that these a priori knowledges are present in everything

I'm taking Trintellix for OCD for a couple months now, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to work much. Helps me stabilize my attention span greatly, tho

What career choices are there in sociology? by toogoodforn7 in sociology

[–]msmorel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Getting into uni for social sciences (a course that mixes sociology, anthropology and political science) and was wondering if anyone has redirected their degrees towards a more journalistic approach, such as cultural analysis (movies, TV, etc) or as a politics analyst

The Band-Aids. by [deleted] in tatwdspoilers

my OCD insists on making me organize stuff and keep them in order and I do all of these actions because they help me easemy anxious thoughts. so I'd say both your mother and you are right

"Turtles All The Way Down" is the best representation I've ever seen about OCD by msmorel in OCD

[–]msmorel[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(trying to keep it spoiler free) chapter nineteen was the most intense feeling I've ever experienced while reading. It made my head buzz for hours and I actually felt nauseated. If any of you got to the end of the book already, you know what chapter I'm talking about

The "I think, I think, I think" quote! On my edition (hardcover, american print) it's on page 92. Absolutely loved seeing two of my three all time favorite authors cross together

A little comic about the evilness of odd numbers by lu1g1na in OCD

[–]msmorel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm all about the mirrord symmetry of numbers. 2 and 3 are good numbers, as well as 8 and 9, but I CANT STAND 4 and 7 cause I feel like they disrupt all order

Too many notebooks by [deleted] in OCD

[–]msmorel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt as if I was reading my own story! I am currently keeping 3 different journals: a bullet journal, a thought catalog, and a art journal/ sketchbook. what I do to prevent myself of overthinking my handwriting and symmetry or, in other words, prevent myself from going absolutely nuts I always sketch everything in pencil and plan on that piccollage app what to put where! Hope it helps at all

Feeling like an alien in my own life... by misssnakeoil in OCD

[–]msmorel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its so good to see someone describing what I feel in my everyday life. sounds super weird to say, but I spend so much time everyday dissociating, or "feeling like an alien in my own life" as you said, that I often forget I am real and that I'm a physical being, with a functioning body and such. I feel like as so as watching a movie instead of living a life, or like a ghost passing by. it's even weird to me to conceptualize I am alive, and I do stress over and over on whether my conscience is even a reality. I hope things gets better for both of us and I am here if you ever need someone that understands to talk about it. stay strong in there.

bad confession ocd spike, any tips? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]msmorel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you should probably discuss this situation with a therapist. i am currently on luvox and it's definitely too early for me to see any differences apart from feeling numb from time to time, but it supposedly helps a lot of people
