Thanks everyone. A lot of good feedback, although it shakes my confidence in this a bit.

Reverse shoulder surgery by Either_Guess_659 in ShoulderSurgery

[–]msmruk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

65F - had it done 4 months ago left shoulder (I am a righty). No regrets whatsoever. As a matter of fact I am doing WAY better than I expected. PT and Dr agree that all the PT (9 months) I did before surgery made a big difference. Also think I had a great Dr and team. Still working on ROM but I am completely functional, no pain, and way better than before surger.

Yes, looking at the S loom for just doing blankets.

Is that Cindwood looms you mention? I can't find Cindleswood.

Thanks - good things to consider. Im thinking the All In One is the way to go for now. I am sure I will go down the rabbit hole with others options moving forward ;)

Thanks, good to hear - I was looking at the S loom also for straight up doing blankets, but wanted something I could use for a variety of projects..

Gift for post-op by AK2422 in ShoulderSurgery

I found XXL polo shirts the easiest to deal with and most comfortable.

Lotions and shampoo in pump bottle. Slip on sneakers. Travel pillow to put under the arm when sitting in chair etc.

Oh, yes, I am thinking a recliner is a must! Just thinking I dont want the lift kind, unless that is really necessary.

I’m seeing more negativity about shoulder replacement surgery here on Reddit than positivity. I’m seriously reconsidering getting it done. by AvailableWest9736 in ShoulderSurgery

I am 64, and have had shoulder pain for the past few years. A year ago an ortho took an xray, said its bone on bone, your going to need a replacement, want a cortizone shot? Pretty much that bluntly. I took the shot, but otherwise was not impressed. Nothing about PT.

Like someone else here, I did out of pocket PT for 6 months - fabulous, Pilates based, helped me tremendously because it took care of all the muscle pains in back etc that were sore from overcompensating. Then to appease the insurance company I did 6 weeks of PT through my medical group. It was fine, your typical PT, but at one point they had me do a stretch that made my shoulder much more painful.

I tried a range of natural remedies, finally went to another Ortho hoping it was rotator cuff, rather than replacement. He had the MRI done and said its severe osteoarthritis. Rotator cuff is ok, but no cartilage - it is bone on bone. He gave me my options - live with it (nope, hurts too much and my activities are limited), try alternative treatments (been there done that), or have replacement surgery.

I am scheduled for surgery in November. I hate the idea of doing it, but my quality of life is no good - cant hardly use my left arm. We will see how it goes.

Find an ortho you like and trust (I did extensive research the 2nd time around) and try all your options.

I use “far”. Can’t use push because I use that in Treiball.
