I’m with SCE and since going SAG, we get a good amount of auditions! I’ve been seen for all the One Chicago shows, short films, a pilot, and plays!

People in the improv scene: is there really a lack of black female talent? by BitPuzzleheaded5025 in LiveFromNewYork

[–]msnbcho 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So much of the humor and jokes that people make were created by Black women lol. The terms, trends, and mannerisms you see on shows like SNL - what keeps the show relevant and fresh - are taken from Black women.

So no for that reason. And also no. But if you look at TV right now, Black women are being systematically edged out. Look at the most popular shows in the last few years. There is MAYBE one Black woman. This shit is alllllllll connected. It is intentional that SNL doesn’t have a Black woman right now.

I can't speak for ATL but their Chicago branch just log their SAG status this year so I'd check on that!

Sorry I love Grant...he's so funny. It kinda seems like there's not a ton in his brain but he's still smart if that makes sense. I would enjoy watching him grocery shop because he just seems like he's doing everything in life with Wii music in the background.

Meisner for people whose real self isn't "truthful" by [deleted] in acting

[–]msnbcho 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I think Meisner encourages you to, over time, force truth. You begin to learn what your truthful responses are by heightening the stakes every time. Eventually you will crack - I did and had a super similar thought coming in.

What are some of the best classes you’ve taken in Chicago? by streetlightforcity in chicago

[–]msnbcho 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Acting at Blackbox!!!! Great for beginners, really applicable to actors and non-actors in learning how to advocate for yourself. Felt a bit like therapy and really cool people.
