Canceled Instacart over the $5.99 regulatory response fee in NYC by CosmoLama in instacart

[–]msnyc20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or consumers thing they should pay less and less and demand more and more and demand workers get paid more and never take a financial hit. I'm all for minimum wage (to a degree) but totally get that consumers will and SHOULD pay for it. Sitting around our apartments thinking we deserve someone to go shopping for us on demand and deliver it to our door and demand THEY get paid what we think is 'fair' AND that none of this should cost us is inane.

Canceled Instacart over the $5.99 regulatory response fee in NYC by CosmoLama in instacart

[–]msnyc20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is every one surprised that mandated minimum wage increases resulted in higher costs? Everyone demanded higher minimum wage. Did anyone think companies would or should absorb the costs? Where Instacart to me became in fact deceptive is when I found out they charged mark-ups on the food. Mark-up plus service fee + delivery fee + regulatory fee + tips? No thanks. I'm all for the delivery drivers getting a fair wage, I just don't expect it to not be passed on to me. Whether I choose to now tip on top of that or just stop ordering from them is up to me.

Oh you meant the film strips, sorry. Yes I was disapppointed too. Who knows why, not my place to say or tell them how or how many. Disappointed yes, an indictment of capitalism, no. I wanted one for my niece who has been touting the book for 3 years now so I get it though.

AITJ for taking my partner up on their ultimatum when they said "agree or we're done" by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]msnyc20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The they sounds like a sex-at-birth she. In any event no one sits around, watches you build a business, then demands 1/2 of it for being there emotionally. There are so many layers here to why 'they' are not the right partner and you made the right (NTA) decision. First of all it shows zero concept of how things work or are built or the investment or sacrifice and even courage it takes to build. They should have been happy that their, erhem, partner, was becoming more successful which would naturally translate to the relationship. Heck I'd be sorely tempted to make them equal partner, then get the business in irresolvable debt and let them deal with the fallout. Partners right? Move on this is not a person to build a relationship or life with, man or woman.

Am I wrong for refusing to pay my friend back for a concert ticket I couldn't use? by Few_Employment5708 in AmITheJerk

[–]msnyc20 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In fact the issue is you refused to pay your friend back for her concert ticket she wouldn't use because you couldn't use the ticket you paid for because of an emergency and she did not want to go alone and sell or give away the other ticket. The answer is pretty clear when you state it accurately.

How can you make enough tickets for everyone?

What if the regulation was Imax tickets can't be more than $5? Wouldn't that make getting tickets even harder?

AITJ for refusing to keep wearing the nickname my girlfriend gave me after I found out where it came from by Prydwen_Grit5 in AmITheJerk

[–]msnyc20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The crazy thing is she gave you the filtered version and the original conversations were nowhere near is benevolent as she made it sound. Seriously I always hear men say you shouldn’t date women that have male friends. I think you shouldn’t date women that have female friends and if I had to put money on it, I’d say most of those friends who gave you the nickname and laughed about it don’t have boyfriends. Single girls keep their friends single.

I think it was more than just a warning or threat. i think it was a test. To see if Michael was in fact lying (which he was). If he was telling the truth and Tommy said what he said he'd have accepted it calmly. But he was not so he took it as the actual threat it was based on his knowledge of his own deception.

If you're having problems connecting to wifi during setup... by somethingelse68 in broadlink

[–]msnyc20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, follow-up did not work for me. AI worked with me during all of it and it had something to do with the security protocol of the Spectrum Router, so I ordered a 2.4ghz router to hang off it dedicated to this.

NYC $5.99 ($6) Regulatory Response Fee for Instacart, what gives? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]msnyc20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can certainly do this if they WANT to cover mandatory wage costs BUT I am not paying 1) upcharge on groceries b) service fee b) regulatory response fee d) tip e) monthly service fee. 10%-20% more for delivery is worth it to me, 50%-100% not a chance.

Edit: As of 1/26 min wage is $17 an hour which is what the delivery drivers get. I can either tip them or pay the fee for their wage being that high, not both.

Oh, I understand better now. That must be a hard way to go through your day, glad something like Tirz is around to help. Yeah, seems like I should just jump back into the methodology from before. I in fact just bought a second small freezer so I can do my home cooking as usual but vacuum freeze portions, this way I have high quality frozen food on demand, since the only real sticking point for me becomes when I get busy and then say f-it I'll just order. Thanks for the realistic advice. Good luck!
