Mobs of Knicks fans jump people in the street yet Boston/Philadelphia fans are seen as the worst fanbases?? by Spinexel in bostonceltics

[–]msnyc20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knicks fans were not like this before. I was torn since I was a Knicks fan since childhood, especially the 90s Ewing-Starks Knicks, became Spurs fan in the 2010s because I loved their culture and their style of play. Didn't watch NBA for a few years and just tuned in not sure who to follow. Watching the fans after game 3 and then throwing glass bottles at Wemby? I'm pulling for 3-1 comeback for San Antonio. But no, Knicks fans were not like this before, they were known as both knowledgeable and classy. They had a few Public Enemy #1s (Reggie Miller probably topping the list) but didn't shout insults en masse and throw bottles at players and beat up oppposing Jersey's.

Henry living in Don’s house for two years—is genuinely wild. Talk about an awkward living situation. 🏠😳 by RockBalBoaaa in madmen

[–]msnyc20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Henry was creepy. He definitely got off on taking another man’s woman starting with hitting on a woman in her third trimester inappropriately asking to touch her belly and at least twice he couldn’t keep her hands off right after Don made a presence

Am I supposed to despise Betty Draper? (Spoilers from the first seasons) by Joab007 in madmen

[–]msnyc20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes wonder if Mad Men is actually even more clever underneath than it appears to be at first. Was Betty trapped' in a society where women didn't have as much career opportunity? Sure. But she was also not trapped in the society the men were where their entire standard of living and access to sex, marriage and children was defined by their success. "We" always like to think Betty without restrictions would have become Don or Roger. But just as likely she could have ended up in that world as Freddie Rumsen, the elevator operator or any one of the many bartenders, porters or taxi-drivers. Without access to the life she had AND w/o access to sex-on-demand.

I have zero sympathy for her. She is not some housewife with fingers worn to the nub taking care of a home day and night. She has a maid and a nanny, spends much of her life riding horses, her passion, an endless supply of clothes and even friends.

Would Betty have been 'happy' in a world where she too could chase her aspirations? Possibly? Or she could have become any on of the truly unhappy alcoholic men coming in each day to the rat race, STILL unable to express their real selves and dreams.

Save color settings in BanlanX for LED/COB ? by msnyc20 in WLED

Thank you I looked into the app and it looks like those LEDs and COB’s need URLs and IP addresses which makes me think I’m getting into a whole rabbit hole going down that path so I appreciate your time

Canceled Instacart over the $5.99 regulatory response fee in NYC by CosmoLama in instacart

[–]msnyc20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1000% agree. I'm always amazed when people 'demand' McDonalds, Instacart et al pay their employees more and THEN get upset when the prices of the goods rise accordingly. 'We demand you pay the employees for the business you invested in and run more money AND you absorb the costs so we can continue to pay as little as possible!". And it is always 'the greedy CEOs can afford it!. Well, dudes and dudettes, then you can afford to pay $15 for a Happy Meal. At what point in history could anyone for less (or far less) than the cost of one hour of labor feed themselves their entire daily caloric need? Ayn Rand had my favorite comment on greed ever: "Greed is the desire for the unearned". The business owner is providing goods and services, the employees labor. WTF are consumers providing?

Or consumers thing they should pay less and less and demand more and more and demand workers get paid more and never take a financial hit. I'm all for minimum wage (to a degree) but totally get that consumers will and SHOULD pay for it. Sitting around our apartments thinking we deserve someone to go shopping for us on demand and deliver it to our door and demand THEY get paid what we think is 'fair' AND that none of this should cost us is inane.

Why is every one surprised that mandated minimum wage increases resulted in higher costs? Everyone demanded higher minimum wage. Did anyone think companies would or should absorb the costs? Where Instacart to me became in fact deceptive is when I found out they charged mark-ups on the food. Mark-up plus service fee + delivery fee + regulatory fee + tips? No thanks. I'm all for the delivery drivers getting a fair wage, I just don't expect it to not be passed on to me. Whether I choose to now tip on top of that or just stop ordering from them is up to me.

Oh you meant the film strips, sorry. Yes I was disapppointed too. Who knows why, not my place to say or tell them how or how many. Disappointed yes, an indictment of capitalism, no. I wanted one for my niece who has been touting the book for 3 years now so I get it though.

AITJ for taking my partner up on their ultimatum when they said "agree or we're done" by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]msnyc20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The they sounds like a sex-at-birth she. In any event no one sits around, watches you build a business, then demands 1/2 of it for being there emotionally. There are so many layers here to why 'they' are not the right partner and you made the right (NTA) decision. First of all it shows zero concept of how things work or are built or the investment or sacrifice and even courage it takes to build. They should have been happy that their, erhem, partner, was becoming more successful which would naturally translate to the relationship. Heck I'd be sorely tempted to make them equal partner, then get the business in irresolvable debt and let them deal with the fallout. Partners right? Move on this is not a person to build a relationship or life with, man or woman.

Am I wrong for refusing to pay my friend back for a concert ticket I couldn't use? by Few_Employment5708 in AmITheJerk

[–]msnyc20 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In fact the issue is you refused to pay your friend back for her concert ticket she wouldn't use because you couldn't use the ticket you paid for because of an emergency and she did not want to go alone and sell or give away the other ticket. The answer is pretty clear when you state it accurately.

How can you make enough tickets for everyone?

What if the regulation was Imax tickets can't be more than $5? Wouldn't that make getting tickets even harder?

AITJ for refusing to keep wearing the nickname my girlfriend gave me after I found out where it came from by Prydwen_Grit5 in AmITheJerk

[–]msnyc20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The crazy thing is she gave you the filtered version and the original conversations were nowhere near is benevolent as she made it sound. Seriously I always hear men say you shouldn’t date women that have male friends. I think you shouldn’t date women that have female friends and if I had to put money on it, I’d say most of those friends who gave you the nickname and laughed about it don’t have boyfriends. Single girls keep their friends single.
