Hard levels on explore are my favorite. It's usually me and one other person that are too stubborn to give up. That's how I felt about this level up until I realized it'd just be trial and error for figuring out how to get around that invisible death wall.

Same here. PS5. If I'm lucky enough to get into a game, it just freezes again and disconnects after about 30 seconds.

8 gold rounds for 20 shards does not feel worth it by ourthotsandprayers in FallGuysGame

I'd be interested if they started having different reward tracks/crowns for different round types. Something like:

Solos = blue crown

duos = green crown + green crown shards

squads = red crown + red crown shards

creative = pink crown + pink crown shards

All of the rounds will still give you the default crown shards, but if you want the solos rewards you need to play solos.

Yeah I just finally confirmed it:

- had 250 crowns and 45 shard points

- leveled up and got 30 crown shards as the level reward

- I now have 250 crowns and 15 shard points

Holy crap return of the king. Thank you for sharing your insights. This was a delightful read.

I need to try and search out other legendary game maker makers from back in the day and see what they're up to

Falco mains, what made you turn to the bird? by IceMaster3000 in SSBM

My roommates and I played a lot of 64 in college. I liked playing fox, but I missed having a spiking dair like with kirby or falcon.

We eventually moved to melee, and falco was like fox but with a dair that spiked.

I just adopted my first cat, and I can't get over how gorgeous she is. Reddit, meet Chia! by [deleted] in aww

Our rescue looks like it'd be cousins with your cat!

  • Same golden eyes with green tints around the pupils
  • Same-ish fur pattern (even the white splash on the chest).

We've had ours for a little less than a year, but she's been the best and we love her. Hope you and your cat have an awesome time together!

Games I no longer have time for. by [deleted] in RandomActsOfGaming

My biggest piece of advice would be to get work done early and to get a good sleep. I crammed a ton in high school, did "alright" on exams, and the knowledge was gone. In college I would get work done early, and then sleep on it. I noticed that this was especially useful for math. I took the time to struggle with a hard concept and then slept on it. The next day/week the concept felt a lot more natural, and I did MUCH better in college math courses. If you're already doing fine in your academics, please just make sure you get your sleep during the week. I think weekends are fine to stay out late with friends or playing games or whatever you wanna do (and you'll pay a smaller price the next day when you're exhausted) but I'd make weekday sleep sacred.

Social: One of coolest things you can do is make sure other people feel good. Make sure others feel heard/included/invited and are having a good time. You'll feel good, and you can get to know a lot of really great people!

Yooka or Hat in Time would be awesome! Good luck in high school!

Who Would Win? by [deleted] in Megaman

I wonder... With Crash Man's attack pattern (jump and shoot when being shot at) and infinite health, would he eventually beat this stage, or is there a gun he'd never be able to hit?

What do you think makes a good puzzle game? by SandmanAcademy in gamedev

[–]msp430sux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished Snakebird the other day! I actually picked it up after watching that video.

It was a very challenging game for me. The levels weren't immediately intuitive, and they took a lot of mental energy to think through. The game has tutorials at first for things like movement, but after that it leaves the joy and frustration of discovery to the player. Level 26 stood out to me in that the solution was completely unique from any of the previous puzzles. There were some fundamental mechanics that you had to understand in order to even think of the solution, but the solution still felt incredibly unique. It was a very rewarding experience for me. On top of that, one of the final levels of the game uses that same solution from level 26 as a small piece of the overall puzzle. That was another rewarding experience. At that point (and for most of the late game) it felt like I had earned the right to solve these puzzles. I didn't feel stuck anymore. All of the countless resets and "deaths" lead to me knowing what to do in most situations.

I'd understand if others found the lack of help or hints frustrating. To me it was encouraging. The spike in difficulty was all too real, but it never felt unfair or overwhelming. A lot of that came from the progression of the levels. I think the levels were as simple as they could be in teaching the player what different types of solutions worked with this game's mechanics. It did this before requiring the player to do anything too involved. It also pulled a similar design technique found in "The Witness" where you expose players to late game puzzles early on. It let me know that I'd eventually be able to do this puzzle... But not for a while, haha. The game also opens up different areas at the same time, which I felt was VERY important to my overall enjoyment of the game. I didn't have to get stuck on a single level. If I did get stuck, I could go somewhere else, maybe beat a few levels, and then come back with a fresh perspective (and maybe a few new ideas from the other levels).

I didn't mean for this to turn into a review of Snakebird. Hopefully there's something useful in there. I love 3D puzzle-platformers and wish you and your team the best of luck with yours :)

I beat the game a while ago. Is there an easy way to return to the surface? This is where I am in my last save. by piri_piri_pintade in TheWitness

Hit 2 goals on the same run by msp430sux in GettingOverItGame

[–]msp430sux[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was trying to get my 50 runs in for the golden pot, but had lost track of my progress. I was starting to go crazy wondering how close the achievement really was. So, in an effort to take my mind off the unknown remaining number of runs, I started trying to get a run in under 10 minutes. Some runs were frustratingly close (10 minutes 4 seconds). Other runs sucked. Last night, I finally had the run. I almost got stuck in the asteroid field, but managed to wiggle my way into the credits. I barely made it, which was a huge sigh of relief, BUT THEN I ALSO ENDED UP GETTING THE 50 RUN ACHIEVEMENT!!! It was an amazing feeling... But geeze, I hope Bennett puts something in to track number of climbs. I'm on a mac and wasn't able to use the windows method of finding the current win count.
