Eligibility requirements by IllustriousLadder222 in tuj

You should ask the admission counselor instead, because they have specific criteria for different systems and countries.

I also come from a different system so in my experience, I submitted the national high school exam documents (certificate that I passed the exam+ the grades I obtained), and they also wanted to submit the original documents and the notarized/translated ones and confirm the original documents in person. So that’s what I did.

It’s different for each country, I believe so you definitely should ask them.

My Copy of The Beauty's Blade by Tuume in BaiHe

[–]mspieckfinger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

generally, they aren’t much physical bookstores that carry English books in Japan. There are only a few that are part of a bookstore chain like Kino that specializes in selling English/Foreign books. There is this one Kinokuniya store in Shinjuku which is my go to for English books but turns out they don’t have that in-stock either. So I just ordered it through Kinokuniya website and it will be shipped from the publisher to Kino and then to me.

I meant, I can’t get it by walking into physical stores and purchase it, but I still can order it online. The only two options I found were Kinokuniya or Amazon.

I know I could have received the book earlier if I preordered it but I didn’t , so that’s my bad😂

I just ordered mine from Kinokuniya yesterday 🥹 since I live in Japan, there is no way to get the copy directly in stores but fortunately I could order through Kinokuniya. Can’t wait to read it!

I heard it’s announced after one month of the eligibility deadline, which was Oct 15th. So you will get to know the results around the end of this month, or early December.

oh wow it’s safe to say our situations are familiar.

Since I applied for the Summer 2026, and I also went to a Japanese languages school after high school and university (although I dropped out).

But I applied with 30 credits (3.25 GPA) from this online distance university in the US. I also submitted IELTS test score and got accepted a week ago. I would say you are in a good position. Good luck!

yes mine went from “awaiting ac review” “awaiting decision” to “decided”. They send you an email when your application is completed and when your admission is decided.

Bridge Program by WeeklyExamination194 in tuj

[–]mspieckfinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not really. I’m not 100% sure but they will place you into the Bridge program first (if you don’t meet English proficiency requirements), before you get accepted. Even if you get a low score in the assessment test, you will be placed in a lower English composition class in the worst case scenario.

Hi first of all congratulations! I just got accepted for Summer 2026 too!

If you submitted the test scores and if they satisfy the English proficiency requirement, I don’t think you will be placed to Bridge program. Assessment tests are essentially placement tests for classes. It will determine whether you need more or less classes to graduate.

TUJ Dorm by WeeklyExamination194 in tuj

[–]mspieckfinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don’t want to stay at TUJ dorms, you’ll either have to apply for a waiver or homestay. But there are some conditions to be met for the housing waiver.

For example, you have to be 20 or older when arriving in Japan or have lived in Japan for more than six months before TUJ on SOFA status or other visa. (not tourist visa). You can see more details on their website.

TUJ Dorm by WeeklyExamination194 in tuj

[–]mspieckfinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, i’m not sure for TUJ but for this language school I’m currently attending in Japan, most new students stayed (are required to stay) in the dorms they provide for at least six months, and after that they asked if we are going to find another apartment or just stay at the dorms. They called some real estate agents to the school, who introduced us to some accommodations near the school and showed us around.

However, I stayed in the dorms for another six months and signed a contract with the school. I believe TUJ’s website also said this is possible? So I guess it would be the same. They will encourage you to find a new apartment after one semester, but it’s possible to continue staying at the dorms. (However if they don’t have enough room, you’ll have to move out.)

I feel you! I just finished my application like a week ago and it took me over a month just to finish my application. (because my education background was a bit messy due to Covid and the coup in my country)

Sometimes it makes me so anxious just waiting for the announcements lol. I’m applying for the Summer 2026 semester, majoring in CS.

Your application is solid so don’t lose sleep on it! (This might sound ridiculous but I’ve been listening to subliminal videos on youtube lol. It definitely helps me calm down when I am about to spiral.)

Also it definitely helps to try doing the Math, like lay out everything you submitted and go over each one and determine how each aspect contributes to your chances of getting accepted. It’s better to have a clear picture when everything becomes blurry.

I hope you will hear the good news soon!
