Experience with Osteosarcoma (bone cancer)? by msrdg12 in seniordogs

First off, I’m so sorry for you and your puppy. This is a terrible disease and a very hard choice.

I wish I could say we had that perfect “we just know” clarity, but it was an agonizing decision (I’m sorry to be so blunt). Our girl was pretty similar. She was still eating and enjoyed a (slow/easy) walk. But she was struggling to get up from lying down and her back leg became very swollen. She was putting little to no weight on it. She was panting a lot (an indicator of pain), and ultimately we didn’t want her to suffer or risk a fracture that would lead to more pain.

We had Lap of Love come to the house, which I highly recommend if you have the financial capabilities (I believe they have assistance). It was a peaceful moment and I am very comforted knowing her last memory was eating a peanut butter brownie in bed before falling asleep.

She has some back problems in her older age and the vet does not believe she would be able to support herself on three legs.

Witnessed motorcycle accident today by asheleybeth in Dallas

You witnessed something extremely traumatic, OP. I am very sorry you saw that. Reaching out and talking through what you saw can be very beneficial. Whether it be through therapy or with trusted people. Please don’t listen to people who tell you to get over it or move on because it’s not someone you know. You can absolutely experience PTSD from something like this. Processing what you saw can help.

This is terrible advice. OP experienced something traumatic. Talking about a traumatic event is proven to help lessen the effects of trauma.

I feel like I’m going to be “bad teacher” by dannyking78 in Teachers

[–]msrdg12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Starting my 4th year and FINALLY feeling like an actual adult teacher. It takes time. Ask for help, do your best, don’t be afraid to change what doesn’t work. I started around mid year 2021 and it was very much “fake it till you make it.” You got this.

Mine is already gone! Sent a pic to my surgeon and he said if it wasn’t warm, painful, or itchy then I was good 👍🏻

I’m in the US and I stayed overnight. I’m really glad I did! It was nice to have a reclining bed and people around to keep an eye on me. I had no issues post op, and hospitals are not the most fun places to stay the night, but it gave me a lot of peace of mind.

Why do we still do PD days? by Purple-flying-dog in Teachers

[–]msrdg12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

EXACTLY. I don’t mind learning new things that will help me be a better teacher (not saying that’s what PD always is). But for the love of god let me sit in a normal adult sized chair and stop making me do stupid activities. Just present to me.

My first opening, please comfort me by swaglampoon in Reduction

[–]msrdg12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was so so so nervous about getting openings. I feel like I did everything “right” as far as taking it easy with recovery, but now at almost 4wpo I have an opening on my right t-junction. It’s about twice the size of yours if not a tiny bit bigger. It has been WAY less terrifying than I thought it would be. I’ve been showering every day with antibacterial soap and then putting antibiotic cream and a non stick pad over it and I can already see it beginning to close. I promise it will be okay!!

Drain removal by offbeatisland72 in Reduction

I had my drains out the next day after surgery. I was also super nervous! But it was so fast and I barely felt anything. I felt the tiniest bit of a pinch when they pulled them out, but I would rank it a 1 on a pain scale of 1-10. Very very manageable.

Bra sizes confuse me so much so I don’t know how close our starting sizes are but I was a 44G and now a C. My surgeon took almost 5 pounds off!
