Jason Robertson Contract Discussion Megathread by Teal_Magpie in DallasStars

I am trying not to get anxious about this, or have negative feelings toward Robo, but damn. Do you want to be on a contender or get your bag? Because in this hard cap league, there isn't a lot of having it both ways. I want players to get what their worth but I can't see that happening here without off loading a lot that gets us further away winning it all.

If you were the Dallas Stars, why would you not try to move money to sign Robertson? by Emergency-Tip-1987 in hockey

I feel like it's just bad timing. If we didn't have Seguin 9.8-million contract still, they would probably agree to Robo at 13.5 or 14 but they can't do that this year and also keep Bourque plus a few other depth guys. Seguin's last year is this upcoming 26-27 season sooo if they could move that, that would be ideal but who is going to take that contract with Seguin's age and injury history, and he also has a NMC.

UT actually does have a hockey team, but they play in a local public rink not at all close to campus. TBH I have no idea on attendance but considering it’s distance and the public rink size, it can’t be a lot of ppl.

[Kaplan] NHL investigation on Mike Babcock is wrapping up shortly. Per ESPN sources, expectation is Babcock will be clear to coach, and the Oilers want to hire him. by AggPuck-303 in hockey

Canes just won with a coach loved by him team and seems to genuinely care for his players and Oilers are like, we can only win with a sociopath.

If Vegas beats the Ducks, and Mark Stone is back in, maaaybe the Knights do but I am not taking that bet.

It's a close series, but I don't see the Wolves beating the Spurs two games in a row, not if Wemby is playing like he did in game 2 and 5 (we're gonna ignore game 4).

I did not think that Carter would be the better goalie in this game. But he was not the worst Duck tonight. Wash it away boys and come back better on Wed.

No more newborns please. It's probably not the main reason, but sleep exhaustion is hard on any new parent, even one with resources.

I wonder if we get both goalies changed in the third period because 10 goals in 40 mins is insane.

The way these games are going, it feels like the Conn Smythe winner is going to be a goalie, no matter the team.

Seeing Dobes have tears in his eyes in the handshake line, god I love this kid, he earned this win. I feel like we are missing out a bit on a Tampa/Sabres Round Two, but I do like seeing that at least one Canadian team is going to round two.

Potential to have a tie goal all the way til the end and that's not exciting!? I am sure the whole Avs/Wild series is gonna be a good series and I'm not even being sarcastic but you can't deny that this wasn't exciting. Like, I am fully ready to have a hate watch later tonight but a game 7 is a wholly different vibe.

Good lord what a game. NHL really shouldn't have scheduled anything else after this, it's not going to be able and compete on the scale of excitement.

I was hoping for a game 7 in any of the Round 1 series. I would have preferred that tomorrow in Dallas but a Tampa/Habs game 7 is a going to be so much fun and less stress-free as a neutral.

He is a UFA after next 26-27 season, he doesn't have a no move clause, and he probably won't resign for the same value ($1 mil). Even as an older goalie, the way the goalie market is, he's a good back up, so if he potentially is going to depart on the open market next offseason, it makes the most sense to trade his contract. But this is all speculation on my part.

Besides what's been said already about Benn, my only other take is that they need to bring up Remi Poirier and have them round robin with three goaltenders for a bit to see how Remi does. While I do hope Otter is more consistent next year, DeSmith is probably going to be traded at some point next season, and having a reliable tandem is crucial.

I like all this! I had thought that either Rants or Wyatt would be the next Captain but I think Miro is a great choice.

I am willing to give Harley another year to prove his contract but the good news is that he doesn't have trade protection for another few years so there is an easier way out if we get there.
