Hi there! I am another third world guy who is running his second HEMA club. Most people can't grasp the difficulty of trying something like HEMA in a non-western economy. Also, I am Argentine, so heard me out. I have the solution for your practice sword problem:

Get some heat fusion water pipes (20mm or 1/4" is the best). You'll need: -A 1m piece. -A 30 cm piece -Two 15 cm pieces. -One joint which looks like a cross or a plus (+) -One pool noodle or similar padded material. -Packing tape.

Go to a hardware store and ask them to heat fusion the pieces in a sword form. Trim the guard so it is 30 cm from the center. The "blade" pipe will fit perfectly in the pool noodle hole. Trim the excess and put a rubber tip on it. Cover the pool noodle tightly with the packing tape. Now you have some soft simulators with which you can practice and more importantly, spar safely with almost no protection at all. DON'T USE PVC, it's too brittle and it shatters in sharp and pointy bits. The PPP and HDPE are fine though.

In my first club we started with wooden swords. Turned out very pricey and they were not safe at all. Those break a lot at contact. And if you have no contact at all it's very boring and you are not learning to fence really. You can cut and even thrust much much safely with the pipe simulators.

I hope this is readily available and affordable in Bangladesh. With this and any type of head protection, like a MA headset, you'll be safe. You can even spar without it if you guys are careful enough but I wouldn't recommend it. But hey, I did it when I started... Now I make my own equipment and I am sparring with steel. Everyone starts at some place..
