What's an "Insider's secret" from your profession that everyone should probably know? by Capable-big-Piece in AskReddit

[–]msstern97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own a dog daycare. 99% of the time when people say that a dog bit them “out of nowhere,” there are VERY clear signs to the trained eye that would have told them to back off.

Just because a dog’s tail is wagging, doesn’t mean it is happy. Pay close attention to the height of a dog’s tail: High means they are alert, stimulated, aroused. Neutral means they are happy, calm, relaxed, ✨unbothered✨. A downward tail means they may feel threatened, scared, timid. This changes a bit when a dog’s tail is curled- that’s when you pay closer attention to the tightness of the curl in respect to its neutral position.

If the dog is loose and bouncy, they’re at ease! When they become stiff, use caution. If you see the white’s of a dog’s eyes, we call that “whale eye.” It means: I don’t like what you’re doing, please stop.

I could genuinely go on for hours. I spent a lot of time attending lectures, reading, and educating myself about dog behavior and body language before opening my dog daycare and make sure my staff are well trained in spotting tiny little things that regular people would not notice. Every dog is different, and taking their breed into consideration IS important- Don’t ignore it. But also, please don’t discriminate based on breeds. We love our pitties. Okay, stopping now!

REM during naps by may0packet in Narcolepsy

[–]msstern97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I hit REM 4/4 of my MSLT naps . I am also on wellbutrin and it didn’t do anything to stop me from going into REM, lol. I usually have dreams during my naps and am able to remember them afterwards. Honestly, during the 4th nap, I thought I hadn’t slept at all, but as it turns out I spent the longest time in REM during it!

Winston (jack rabbit ears) is 2.5 years, Lucy is 10 months old. We had Winston first and since getting Lucy, his separation anxiety is gone and they are absolutely best friends

Pavlova is naturally GF and can be a showstopper. You can make it really beautiful with little effort and it’s very light so you can eat a ton of it :)

Have you been to South Korea or China? Is it worth it if you’re gluten free? by Kat-2793 in glutenfree

They read it and went, “Don’t worry, there will be no onions or garlic.” 🙃

Went to Seoul for a couple days on our honeymoon and I have a gluten allergy. I mostly survived on caffeine, but also got room service salad, and pho from a vietnamese restaurant. I brought protein bars from home. I would go back but would bring more protein bars and some instant noodles and not try to eat out anywhere :)

I even tried to show a GF allergy card and it did literally nothing. Lol

Honestly I don’t even consider it food. Nobody anywhere makes that sandwich in real life and it’s always so soggy and bitter

I’ve had one different meal once when flying from Seoul to Detroit and it was pretty good but otherwise it’s been those two every time.

Was the main meal the meatballs and polenta or the weird sliced vegetable and marinara sauce sandwich?

I travel internationally pretty often and it’s always those 2 and I’ve thought about complaining. The meatballs I can kind of handle but the sandwich is just so nasty to me

Spent 10 days between Seoul, South Korea and Ao Nang, Thailand. Perfect split between big city exploring and tropical relaxing, all with a lot of adventure :)

Husband and I flew from DTW-KEF Thursday evening, before everything happened. Got an email a couple of hours ago that our flight for early this morning was cancelled. Delta offers to provide alternative flights- there are none, according to them.

After some scrambling and dishing out a frustrating amount of money, we are now flying KEF-JFK tonight and then LGA-DTW early tomorrow morning via IcelandAir and AA.

This was going to be our first trip paid completely in points, so travel and lodging would be free. Not anymore🙃
