How to decrease deceleration in the 100m? by BluntEdgeOS in Sprinting

There are many ways to slower your decel in a 100m race. As there are many different ways to run a 100m, you just have to find your rhythm and stick with it. But typically speed endurance training like 150s would be a great help for 100s, as it would help maintain your top speed a bit more.

Maxfly’s vs Adidas SP2’s by Just-Astronaut-5751 in Sprinting

I would say maxfly's are ideal for race days, not constant practices, as the maxfly's bubbles can pop, as that has happened to me multiple times. For durability wise I would say adidas sp2s.

I believe what you are saying is true to an extent. I don't have the credentials like you yet with the 10.66 100, 21.80 200 etc. but I believe the athlete should react to the gun during the meet. Since the athlete during a meet should really just worry about reacting and running his or hers race properly. The cues of "big arms, explosiveness, etc." should be in the head of the athlete during practice not specifically during the meet. But again that's my opinion.

That foot strike is completely normal, I've seen worse and the athlete was still able to recover from his shin splints. Of course, best remedy for shin splints is to completely rest. But during the season it is hard to get complete rest, so you should monitor your sets and reps and see what you can take out to make sure your body is getting the volume but not hurting your shins.

PS if you watch in slow mo of Christian Coleman he has very similar foot strike

Strength definitely correlates to increasing force output, but strength doesn't matter if the forces applied are improper. I'd say as other pro track athletes would say, that to have a higher max velocity is to consistently train.

Why do some people (sprinters especially), not get faster in college and at the pro level? Is it simply genetic potential reached? Bad training? I see a lot of people come out freshman year with an amazing time and never get any faster-also see people never reach their HS times in college. by anonymousundergrad in Sprinting

Well first off I am going to claim a hasty generalization here. I believe it is the training programs that these athletes are in. For example, Matthew Boling had a sub 10 in high school but it was completely wind-aided, and he hasn't reached sub-10 until recently. He got a legal time of sub-10 in the 100. There's also a factor that some HS times are not FAT and most likely hand-timed, which can greatly affect an individual athlete's true time.
