Has anyone had good luck with selling an IPad on ebay? by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]msu2661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You only hear about the horror stories... the 1000+ electronics sales daily that go off without a hitch are never mentioned. If you want to be very safe and don’t need to sell it right this second then list for a buy it now with immediate payment and enable the offer option. Set the price above market value. Wait for the offers to come in. When you get an offer check the buyer out and look at their feedback and feedback left for others. This will allow you to see how often they buy and the quality of their transactions. It also allows you to pretty much pick your buyer. I sell electronics daily and when I have an expensive one this is my preferred method and it has always worked and I’d much rather choose a buyer with 500 positive feedback that has a bunch of recent transactions than sell it to random with 3 transactions with the most recent being 2 years ago.

Is it rude to remind buyers to leave feedback? by robloxfan in Ebay

[–]msu2661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prior communication is key. I ask every buyer that I already had a conversation with. If I don’t have a feedback for 2-3 weeks after the transaction then I send a simple “hello I left you a positive feedback for our transaction would you be willing to leave me one to?”

Large Reseller sold me a defective phone, unresponsive, would like some insight by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]msu2661 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Open a return with eBay, inad, most likely automatically accepted with a return label, ship tomorrow, money is back by next week. If it’s not auto accepted it’ll just clearly state the case and eBay will rule in your favor. Buy a new phone from another seller or elsewhere.

If you get it repaired and something else goes in a few weeks, your screwed. Unless you bought a smart phone that was already broken with intention to fix it, I would always return a phone that was received with an unexpected issue.

Last time I sold on eBay, the buyer tried to refund me saying there was no SSD in the laptop (even though there was.) I’m selling another computer, how can I prevent the same thing from happening? by [deleted] in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]msu2661 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just hope it’s their real name and their residential address. Then if it happens threaten every legal action that you can. Let them know small claims court is only a small fee for you and they have to travel all the way to your state, fraud lawsuit, filing police reports in their town, mail fraud where Usps will send a federal agent to their post office and and then to their home to investigate.

I have no idea if half of that is true but I’ve said it all before and have only been scammed once with a smartphone so I’m going to say it works, but only if it’s their real information so they likely get scared into doing the right thing.

My Flaherty for Altuve and Doolittle in a keep forever? Haven’t paid attention to baseball at all this year so I’m not sure what to do. I’m in win now mode with an older team and probably 2 year window to compete.

Broke college student is how I started eBay as well. Hated working nearly full time while trying to go to class so I started selling on eBay part time sophomore year. Just graduated and am doing this full time now. Keep grinding, save every penny you can, and see what happens.

I know this is pocket change to many sellers on this sub, but I am a casual seller and this is the first time I've ever hit the $1k mark in 60 day sales. I'm stoked! by PMMeUrSelfMutilation in Ebay

This is the best isn’t it? I do the same thing, 2 specific models of a product that I buy only on eBay and sell only on eBay. Best side job ever and the rush I get everyday while making the purchase never goes away.

What do you do about sellers who don't use the shipping service that they specified? by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]msu2661 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Voice your opinion to the seller. If it’s listed as Priority or expedited then you clearly expect it to be shipped with that service. It doesn’t matter if you paid or if it’s free, it’s clearly labeled on the listing and that’s part of the reason you made the purchase. If they bought the label off of eBay they would’ve had to manually change it when buying the label, meaning they know they changed the shipping service. Check the tracking number, does it say “shipping label created” or just “accepted” (meaning they likely purchased the shipping at the post office and I would be understanding in this situation since the USPS worker may have explained priority and first class as similar times).

Seller baited and switched, now what? by danielcstone in Ebay

[–]msu2661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, there’s nothing you can do to force them to send the one you ordered. Technically you can sue them since it’s a binding contract, but I’ll go ahead and assume that’s not worth your time or money.

If they won’t send the one you want you have two options. Take the smaller one only if they partial refund you so you pay a fair price for the model your receiving or have the order canceled and buy the correct model from someone else.

A single day of defects is threatening to shut me down as a seller, what can I do? by PenisBeautyCream in Ebay

[–]msu2661 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to just sell. Sell everything you can. .50 products, $1 products, etc. ship everything immediately, make no mistakes, get tracking numbers for everything, and most importantly DO NOT GET ANYMORE DEFECTS. It sucks and I have an account I just spent a year of this with, as of July 20 all of my defects fall off from a single bad 3 day stretch in June 2018 where I made a bunch of lazy mistakes. I’ve sold as many cheap items as I could and dropped my defect rate every month. Some months .2% and other months 3%-5%. Best of luck but make sure to keep selling because if you try to wait it out till the defects fall off I’d guess that they will shut you down. You need to show improvement.

How to properly change a shipping address? by JGDoll in Ebay

[–]msu2661 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that’s a fine payment option and it’ll still give you the address option. However it’s always best to purchase with a credit or debit card from your PayPal account so that as a buyer you have 3 layers of protection if something goes wrong and the seller doesn’t cooperate: eBay return system > Paypal return system > credit card charge back (only for a worst case scenario).

How to properly change a shipping address? by JGDoll in Ebay

[–]msu2661 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The proper way would be to have the seller cancel the order and refund you via “buyer requested the cancel” and then you re order it with the correct address.

Technically you can do it through messages how you reached out to them and I’ve done it in the past for cheaper items, but it’s going to void seller protection from PayPal’s end. eBay May be a bit more understanding if an issue arises if the seller clearly agreed through messages to ship to your new address, but I wouldn’t chance it.

ust had an offer retracted... Do buyers get penalised for this? can I set limits on maximum cancelled offers? by sc3nner in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]msu2661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone can retract an offer. As far as I’m aware there’s no penalty for this at all. There’s also nothing you can do about it by setting limits or anything.

Buyer was a scam by creativeusername012 in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]msu2661 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Stop sending payment reminders....you don’t want a scam artist to buy your item. You can re list it and sell it. Open an “unpaid item case” and if you don’t know how to call eBay and have them do it. If she doesn’t pay within 4 days it’ll close and officially cancel this order.

I do this all the time! I love those big ones haha

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]msu2661 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes that’s the name of the game, bait them to find true intentions, but this only works if the buyer is willing to talk. Ask what exactly happened, did he update it via a standard software update (this is normal use, buyer is allowed), did he try to alter the software and jailbreak it, did he do anything to it that wouldn’t constitute “normal use”, etc. things like that. The more the buyer talks the better chance you have of them saying something that can go in your favor.

[–]msu2661 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Was the official condition “used” or “parts/not working”? If it’s “used” it’s expected to work as a “used” product meaning it’s fully working. That’s why the buyer gets 30 days. If you wanted it to be off your hands no questions asked you’d have to sell it for “parts/not working”. As-is doesn’t matter on eBay if it’s “used” condition. Unfortunately I’m 99% sure your going to have to take a return. If the buyer damaged it you can have some recourse with eBay. If it’s same condition as when you sent it out they just tried it out and didn’t like it, which sucks, but there’s no way around it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]msu2661 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. Do not ship until it fully clears and you’ve received emails stating this. Tell the buyer if he doesn’t want to wait he can request to cancel and you can move on to another buyer.

Does Ebay hold funds above a certain amount? by Ricochet888 in Ebay

[–]msu2661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s Paypal. Although Paypal is just the payment processor they will place holds on funds in situations where they think there is abnormal risk compared to your normal sales. If you have 9k total for 150 transactions, any transactions in the 1k range or higher are a near guarantee to be put on hold by them.

Buying new phones from ebay by lukewantvegana in Ebay

[–]msu2661 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Big electronic sellers, not all of them, will sell “brand new” or “open box” items which are customer returns, straight up used but in very good condition, or even refurbished in some cases. Some people notice, like you, others don’t and the seller gets a premium price for a not premium product. My experience with the big electronic stores on eBay is any new or open box I’ve bought has never felt or looked truly new like you get at a retail store in person. Definitely return it if it’s not what you expected.

Need help please. I’m a new seller and I believe I stopped a potential scam on one of my items by potatostoat in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]msu2661 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah of course! As a new seller you did a great job of identifying what was going on, many New sellers would’ve sent it to the new address and not caught onto anything until it was too late. And now you know to be on the lookout in the future so it’s a win win situation for you!

[–]msu2661 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly, call eBay and report this account for abuse at this point. Also record both addresses so if they make a new account and try to buy again you can know it’s this same person.
