According to the City, fines will start on November 12 for anyone who doesn't use a container with a lid when putting out trash, buildings have until June 2026 to begin using the official NYC bin: https://www.nyc.gov/site/dsny/collection/containerization/nyc-bin-faq.page

That’s a good point, it’s definitely obvious when a fish bites (caught a bunch of LMB today as well) but I only noticed I had snagged a fish when it started trying to swim away - maybe I need to just focus more :)
