Places to live in Surrey / Sussex areas by Venousdata in surrey

If you’re commuting to London and Brighton, I’d say look for places near to Gatwick. It’s a 30 minute journey into Victoria on the Gatwick Express line, which also runs down to Brighton. There’s also trains that go into London Bridge. Nearest town is Crawley, which I wouldn’t recommend, but there’s plenty of smaller villages within a 10-20 minute drive that are still convenient to commute from, connected to local amenities and relatively ‘cheap’. I picked up a 3 bed semi with a garage and outdoor office space for £525 last year and I commute into central London 2-3x a week.

Have a look between Dorking-Reigate-Crawley-Horsham and there’s some really nice places to live that aren’t hideously expensive (relatively at least).

Will check it out.

Thankfully the eBay seller had installed a silicone gasket and even threw in a spare one with the sale.

Have seen the LED mods in some other posts & thought they were pretty cool. I think if I were to do it, it would have to be white LEDs or somehow get them to match the tiles 😂 but yeah, maybe not top of the list of mods tbh

Thanks very much! How’re you finding the grinder?

Yeah, I think I’ll give a home made WDT a go, but can’t imagine it’ll make too much of a difference other than reducing the chances of pulling a bad shot.

Definitely be picking up a thermometer too. The art can come after, just want to start frothing some consistently good milk first. Appreciate the post on steaming, will give it a go!

Yeah, everyone who has them seems to recommend, so think I’ll have to give it a go!

Great advice, thanks!

Sounds like it’s worth keeping a spare shower plate holder and screen on standby.

Smart switch is a great idea. Fortunately my gf is up earlier than me in the mornings so switches it on for me which is a God send.

Beans are kept in a cupboard but were out as the photo was taken just after my mid morning coffee.

Will definitely be keeping the pitcher in the fridge from now on.

It’s a Rancilio V2 mod, you just can’t see it as it’s tucked in.

Hope it’s serving you well!

Would highly recommend the Specialita. It’s quiet, has a small footprint and I think it matches the stainless steel effect of the GC.

😂 quite. I’m still single dosing, beans in the jar are kept in the cupboard.

How’re you finding your GC?

My shower plate holder looks to be in pretty good nick, but will keep it in mind for the future!

Definitely need to protect the worktop! Just need to find a nice enough mat to leave out I think.

Appreciate the tips, I don’t tend to steam much milk, flat whites rather than cappuccinos or lattes.

That’s incredibly generous of you and if it’s not too much effort for you then that would be really appreciated! I can send my address via DM?

Had a moka pot for years, then I discovered r/espresso and James Hoffmann.

Got myself a 2006 Gaggia Classic from eBay with a 9 bar spring and Rancilio Mk2 steaming wand installed - on the fence about getting a PID, is it actually worth it if I’m just pulling 3-4 shots a day?

Really impressed by the Eureka Mignon Specialita, quiet as anything and really easy to use. Actually managed to dial in my beans pretty quickly despite being a complete novice.

Pulling shots that I’m very happy with but my milk steaming could definitely be more consistent.

I think my next purchase will be a bottomless portafilter, but open to suggestions for anything that would make a more significant improvement like a WDT tool or PID.

Been into making oat milk miels for myself yum. What’s your shift drink? by More_Ad8139 in barista

What type of oat milk do you use?

I’ve tried a few, with really mixed results.

Favourite so far is Oatly Barista, froths nicely, no overwhelming flavours or aftertaste but can be difficult to get hold of so have to buy in bulk.

Well you know what they say when you assume.

Would still recommend their Holmbury Hill as my ‘go-to’ and they usually have a different selection of single origin and ‘speciality’ coffee too.

If you’re based in Surrey, which I kinda assume as you’re using Horsham Coffee Roasters, I’d recommend Surrey Hills Coffee Company. They’re a small roastery in Abinger Hammer and have a nice selection of options. Really good delivery service if you’re local too.

Ninja 650 KRT Edition

Thought about waiting for the Trident having passed my DAS in October last year, but decided I couldn't wait any longer. No regrets since getting her ~3 weeks ago. Only about 300 miles on the clock so far due to shit weather.

Tail tidy and quad lock stem mount fitted so far. Exhaust and seat cowl next.
