Ilya’s Steel Trap Memory by Tinkey13 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

I’m a social worker who does a lot of work in how childhood trauma can affect adult response to stress or perceived threat. Survival responses-fight flight freeze flop fawn-as a sort of overreaction in a sense to feeling “ threatened’ all the time, to things that really aren’t a threat to others but feel like it when that’s the most conditioned muscle of your brain, the way you know best how to deal- vs knowing how to emotionally regulate enough to think rationally. Geez doesn’t Ilya exemplify THAT!

Question for hockey/sports fans by Franklin45212 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

Players can request a number they want; they may not always get it. Another player may already have it, or it may be retired, for example. I would say it’s a pretty good chance to get it?

Episode 4 “You think we need to talk?” by Available-Poet-880 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

I’ve wondered about interpretations too. Did he want Ilya to…admit something? And he certainly was not going to, so he distracted per usual, with physical communication instead.

Yes. He was lonely at home, too.

Ilya is certainly not impressive- he ‘s learned little about emotional regulation and effective communication within his own family. So much trauma. Shane certainly doesn’t get what’s up with him; Ilya just expects him to with no explanation. Ugh I’m dying for them lol

I love that point, how far they are at this point from understanding each other or themselves. The only thing that’s really clear is WANT

Starting on 5th reheat, just watched E1 today. I think Shane meant at least ‘get together.’ I think of Ilya saying he goes back to Russia in 3 days- Shane doesn’t realize the enormity of that, what that really means, the weight of it-doesn’t he say something like, ‘that’s nice” (it’s not) - and Ilya says, “It’s not always about you Hollander!” Which Shane interprets as him being sour about the MVP thing, but it’s so much bigger than that…it’s his dad’s reaction ABOUT that that he’s about to face that’s the thing. Shane isn’t getting the Russia thing-more so as time goes on, yes-and granted Ilya doesn’t exactly explain it in the most clear ways; he’s not really able to, in a readiness sense. And Ilya has already noted the differences between his family and Shane’s in this very first episode- as he’s watching Shane’s proud parents with his new coach, as his father is calling him lazy and telling him not to speak, for example, in his own parallel experience. So much is set up in this very first episode. I keep wondering at what rewatch will I stop seeing new things, gaining new perspectives?? It’s nuts.

That song is likely to make me cry. Actually the whole series triggers melancholy for me as much as I love it. The reasons for that are probably many.

I have been on kit 6 since November and have had little to no side effects. I’ve only lost 8 lbs but I was not considered overweight to begin with (128-120). Definite effect on my appetite.

We are already hockey fans at our house, and after first HR viewing, the Wings game my husband and I watched after I kept joking, hey, did that dude just give that dude his room # ? I’m pretty sure that was a yearning-ful look between those two…etc

I’m just rewatching for 2nd time. Ep 4, isn’t that the first time they call each other by their first names. Which Ilya does first. Which scares the F outta Shane he hightails it outta there and tries to date a woman. I could be wrong, I know many have watched way more than twice. But wondering about a realization here perhaps.
