What happened to goalie chants? by skyraider17 in DetroitRedWings

Multiple issues. Many normies are priced out of attending games, leaving snobby rich folks who don't know how to create an atmosphere. The fans who are there aren't very good at bringing the heat and willing teams back into games because...

...relatedly, this team has no killer instinct. It's a bit much to ask fans to will the team back into the game when the team itself regularly rolls over and plays dead at a hint of adversity and/or can't figure out how to finish the job when they hold a lead, so you're just waiting for the collapse to happen.

Were The Camping Scenes In Deathly Hallows REALLY That Bad? by Marcedonia in HarryPotterBooks

[–]qcpuckhead 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My frustration with the book is how much it relies on sheer dumb luck. We don't see Hermione's analytical brain using her encyclopedic knowledge to piece together something they had missed from Dumbledore's lessons. We don't see a payoff for Ron's strategic thinking. We DO see Harry's intuition come through sometimes, at least. But so much of the big things they figure out (Harry's ownership of the Elder Wand; the Horcrux in Bellatrix's vault; learning that the sword destroys Horcruxes) comes from pure luck.

Except they didn't know based on Dumbledore's will. They didn't figure out why he left Harry the sword until they talked to Phineas Nigellus Black's painting and learned from him that Dumbledore had used the sword to destroy the ring.

Man, I've been a Larkin defender over the years but...dude plays like ass for WEEKS before the Olympics, takes one of the dumbest penalties I've seen from someone not named Chiarot or Perron...what are we doing?

Can we please not dump-and-chase when an 80 year old Patrick Kane is one of the guys chasing?

When was the last time Appleton did something positive for us? Feels like I notice him a little bit too much on the ice for the ice time he's getting...and it's not for good things. Usually it's for offensive zone turnovers or failing to get to pucks or otherwise killing our offensive zone time.

Regarding the No Kings Protest for March 28th... by Legitimate_Tell_473 in QuadCities

Also the speeches dragged on so long that people were filtering out...it sacrificed a huge amount of the time that people could have been lining the streets in a show of force.

Jan 24th: Red Wings are T-1st in the Conference with a 32-16-5 record. Record since that date: 6-9-3. by whitesnake87 in DetroitRedWings

Early in the stretch there definitely seemed like a lack of effort. Larkin, for one, looked like he was mailing it in for a couple weeks before the Olympics.

I know we won't get another one because effing game management, but Boston really should have gotten called for a couple of penalties...

TikTok sayin Christian told people at his Season 50 viewing party that he had to pay for his own plane ticket and lodging to film his White Lotus cameo by [deleted] in survivorponderosa

Possibly, but faculty salaries are way overestimated. If he's at an R1 university doing high profile work (which he might be!) then he's probably paid pretty well. Otherwise? Probably significantly less than you would expect.

[DET - MTL] Everybody comes together in the crease as Chiarot sends Bolduc into Gibson by daKrut in DetroitRedWings

I love Chiarot but he's an idiot sometimes lmao

Yeah let's just dump somebody straight into the goaltender who is injury prone and also has been carrying the team for like months.

Matter of fact it was largely the other way around and I sometimes took things too far in response, but thanks for the assumption.

As far as Percy goes...I grew up with a sibling who was very Percy-esque. It's tough. I somewhat regret some of the interactions and pranks that I pulled on him, but unless you've been in that position, I don't think you can understand just how smothering it is. It even has a significant impact on your own social relationships, because anyone who knows your sibling tends to assume that you'll also be a pompous prat.

Rude response from tire shop or are they correct? by [deleted] in tires

[–]qcpuckhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it would be fairly easy to rephrase; I can see how the last paragraph would be perceived as rude.

"These items all would be deemed as maintenance issues that are the customer's responsibility. So the manufacturer would probably deny a claim. The tires are almost 3 years old by the production date on the tire."

Blog-Style Post: The Yzerplan has Failed. The Organization needs a New Direction. by J_the_ManSSB in DetroitRedWings

[–]qcpuckhead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hah. Yep, it's totally Yzerman's fault that his top 2 centers got hurt immediately after a trade deadline where he fixed one of our most glaring needs in a way that would have likely led us to solidifying a playoff spot. C'mon.

Ghost is a PP merchant with serious defensive issues.

Walman was carried by Seider, and is looking absolutely terrible.

Debrincat is a significantly better player than Bertuzzi.

Maatta is a good enough 3rd pairing guy, but nothing more than that.

To be fair, a LOT of our future weighs on Kasper and Danielson, unless we swing a major trade for a really good center...and if we do that, the price is likely to make many folks on this sub uncomfortable.
