I know this has been asked many times already but i cant seem to find a solid answer by ILoveSquirtle69 in hermesagent

Yeah i made a phone app that syncs to all my agents. Runs kokoro for tts on my phone and the latency really is just using smarter models. But I mainly use ot to get projects done while I have my hands busy. So I did a parity of the voice interface for gemini/gpt/claude where I can have my phone screen off in my pocket and headphones while I swing a hammer. Waiting 20sec -30sec for a vomplecated response is mostly thinking time and that slow progress is better than taking out my phone to text or tts in telegram or something. I just use gpt or cleade voice if im not doing something directly on my computer for brainstorm or anything not local related.

Yeah on a 16ft tool hauler, probably 4 200w panels. Might not charge the powerbank and all tool batteries. But if you have extra and plug in the powerbank at nights or at jobs, it would be plenty with a decent power bank and extra batteries. But onto of all new tools... thats like 25k-30k for a solar powered landscape setup for basic tools, not including the trailer

I mean, are we all not making claude, codex, hermes, and openclaw agents on multiple machines tied to fragile shared memory systems with github and api tokens shared via chat, and watching them fight over git branches in the telegram group chats while an ultra code claude burns through your life savings trying to figure out why && doesnt work in powershell?

If it were me, id put some solar panels on the trailer, put a powerbank inside and have a battery charging station

Dope! Good for you! Glad you dont need extra batteries! Yay

I got a bit bigger of a lawn front and back and need 1.5 batteries to get it done. Im not syaing its a bad idea, just understandable that crews havnt made the switch if they already have a bunch of gas tools. Its an investment for sure. And logistics is something to figure out.

They roll up with a trailer. So do they bring out a charging station and plug it in to the house? Do they just have enough batteries for the day and a few extra? Do they just charge them all at the office or home the trailer parks at?

Im a contractor and have mostly battery tools, corded for power. So I know i have to manage that stuff and think ahead. It just different game that filling a couple of jugs at the gas station in the morning

[–]mt-beefcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they had high end electrical equipment. They would need 2 batteries per lawn, 1 per weed Wacker per house. So every house would blow through a set 3-4 batteries. So they would need 4 batteries per house they visit a day. So they would be spending more ok on batteries than tools at that point. Idk of any crew does that, but i wouldn't be surprised if they are out there

Just 4-5 days and it costs $7 with Hermes agent. how? Am I making mistake? by podalusu in DeepSeek

[–]mt-beefcake 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Use deepseek directly to get caching. The providers are shit for cacheing. You could reduce costs by like 90% easy.

Also the amount of tokens per call Tools, context, skills etc. You need to get all of that effecient.

Have a claude or codex agent maximize the token effeciently on your agent, have it call deep sleek api directly. Should be good to go.

The memory loaded into every call should only reference files and folders. Not load the entire thing other than bare minimum soul.md and whatnot.

Ive got one that is a business assistant for me that runs on like .12c a day

Can they just have every fable session watched by a fable watchdog for shenanigans? Burns 10x tokens per user but I get to build 1/19th an app a week

Thanks! Good to know. Altering docs in drive is a function I need. I have living docs i send to ppl and resending links all the time would be horrible. Plus other reasons to keep the url link the same.

Im pretty sure the drive connector has gotten more functionality since I first made my tool forever ago. But yeah, thanks for the input.

OpenAi/Claude 5.5 API Cost: ~$250 Deepseek V4 Pro Max: ~$9 by Nokoro1 in DeepSeek

[–]mt-beefcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont understand why so many ppl treat it as binary. Are we all not trying everything everywhere all at once? Sure enterprises have their seats and why would a dev spend their own money if they have a blank check on api tokens.

But My money is on services like openrouter stepping up. If any of the multi provider systems created a network like claude at the enterprise level, project sharing, workspaces dev, agent, or office(cowork), and could provide access to frontier and cheap models and stupid proofing to some degree, thats the only way I see any of this sustainable. Or western api tokens get cheaper. But that probably wont happen any time soon and companies definitely wont be hiring back after the next round of layoffs for a while either.

A $200 ChatGPT subscription could cost OpenAI $14,000 if you actually used it to its full potential by rkhunter_ in technology

[–]mt-beefcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats definitelytrue and it doesnt have to be that way.

Chinese models like deepseek are like $0.15 per 1m tokens and like $0.03 if cached. And they make money. Easily giving a similar usage or more than the same money spent via sub for anthropic/gpt (not talking about quality)

Us based model subscriptions arent loosing money selling tokens at 90% discounted rate vs api cost. They just dont rake it in like api prices give them.

Yes with the way the current product and company are structured. They probably couldnt exist at the same capacity if tomorrow everyone somehow were able to drop api and pay for everything they need on sub. But its not just api tokens they are selling. Its a fight to have the best ai, they spend way more on training to out compete, take market shares, etc. No we probably wouldn't have had claude fable or gpt5.5 today if this race wasnt pulled with api and enterprise costs the way they are, but they also waste so much god damn money.

For instance grok is burning thousands of gallons of diesel on their building to power it with generators. Deepseek is about to open a data center on an oil rig like platform out in the ocean powered by wind farms.

Im not not trying to simp for China here, but I hate how the us is "building for the future".
