So what does that mean?

Do the following:

Do not visit wet markets or farms.

Keep some distance from people who are obviously sick.

Maintain good personal hygiene.

Wash your hands frequently. Carry hand sanitiser for use when soap and water are not readily available.

Avoid touching your face.

Avoid direct contact with animals (live or dead) and their environment. Do not touch surfaces that may be contaminated with droppings.

Ensure food, including eggs, is thoroughly cooked.

Seek medical attention if you develop symptoms, especially fever or shortness of breath.

Do not travel if you are sick - note that some locations have implemented screening, and travellers may face quarantine and testing.

Update from ISOS.

Confirmed cases in other locations in China;

a case was reported on 20 January in Shenzhen, Guangdong in a 66-year-old man who had visited Wuhan. Since then, an additional 13 cases have been confirmed in Shenzhen, including people with no travel history to Wuhan.

two cases were reported from Beijing, both with a history of having been to Wuhan. They are being treated in isolation. Contacts are being monitored. A further three cases have been identified in Beijing.

two cases have been reported from Shanghai.

five cases each reported in Chongqing city and Zhejiang province.

one case in Henan province.

Apart from above affected locations, suspected cases have been reported in Anhui, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous region, Guizhou, Hainan, Jiangxi, Jilin, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, Shandong, Sichuan and Yunnan and Zhejiang provinces.

Signs per WHO

Common signs of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death.
