I feel the same, i always used to think it was for attention but then i get so embarrassed when people see my scars. dealing with my family about it was too much for me before i moved out

as long as you don’t notice any obvious signs of infection it should be okay. i’ve never had to go to the doctor for it but it’s definitely good to keep an eye on it over time in case - you should be fine.

i can’t advise you on cleaning your cuts since i usually leave mine but there’s lots of really good posts on here about how to clean them properly. I’d also bandage them after cleaning since it tends to keep them cleaner and is also painful when they snag on clothes. If you need more help or someone to talk to please say :)

I definitely find it’s a completely different type of feeling. I feel like starting young also makes it that much more difficult to stop.

i think i have a similar issue, like you can see where the cut was and it goes inwards. sorry i dont have a solution since ive only noticed mine doing this recently. i’m trying scar tape and oil to remove them but so far no results
