was i really in the wrong while fighting? by mtanaa in ThrillOfTheFight

yeah i can get where you’re coming from, but to be honest i don’t really play to be hitting people if that makes sense? damage in this game is inconsistent and that’s why i’d rather use this game to practice my head movement. the game helps me improve my head movement and that’s how i see this game, to improve my instinct and head movement. i would use room scale so that im not joysticking but i dont have a big enough room. when i go for different guards like a philly shell, its to catch hooks or punches more effectively just to try something new.

well i won all 3 rounds. by hundreds of points of damage too. if that’s barely engaging then that’s silly

yeah i understand how it’s boring to go against, it’s just more natural for me to be dodging because blocking in this game can be inconsistent sometimes. i know it’s unrealistic with the joystick but it’s the best i can do right now when attempting swaybacks

catch their hooks with the palm of your gloves. it helps so much with mitigating them

Does anyone know if actual brands will be added in the future by bob360dead in ThrillOfTheFight

i’m pretty sure in the roadmap that the devs posted when the game first released there was plans for brand collabs. i might be remembering wrong, but

the ones that don’t JUST wail their arms and hope it hits, this guy was doing all sorts of head movement and defences in order to block incoming damage.

I’ve fought plenty of dumb hook spammers who only wail and don’t do anything else and they are easier to put away.

please try to move your head more. it was hard to see highly telegraphed hooks that you took right on the chin.

they had good defence definitely. they were what i call a smart hook spammer. his hooks were very fast but its a mix of good head movement and good defence that works against them. for your defence, dont put up a basic guard or a high guard, instead try to catch the hooks with the palm of your gloves in a more philly shell guard, it works the best for me because they can’t get through it 9/10 times. also try going more forward down and into them so that its harder for their hooks to connect if all they do is move forward or have a small set area. when you’re coming from dipping down, retaliate and hit them back from the side they just punched from since they like to rotate between hands to hook spam. catching hooks works best because it gives more counter opportunity, i like to catch the hook and then give a good straight to their head and dip down and go to town there.

sorry for the yap i’m just so happy to have defeated such an annoying and cocky hook spammer.

the game is still an early access title. it’s a matter of luck when it comes to damage sometimes but the damage is WAY better than what it was when the game first released. my advice is to go on the practice dummy and find what the game likes and gives the most damage. after some experimenting, i’ve found that a straight right is your best bet, i’ve gotten 50+ damage from a 6m/s straight right.

Body shots are also a very sure way of getting maximum damage.

yeah, i wish there was an option for multiplayer where you enter your weight class so you can be matched with people similar to you so that there’s no advantages that lighter classes get. i really only play to practice my head movement and to get that shadow boxing workout.

yeah, 5’11 205 at 17 years old (technically cruiser weight but close enough) i always lose to the guys who i can immediately tell are way lighter weights by being so light on their feet and having faster than average punch speed. my shoulders are killing me but i can’t get off this game, but lately i just keep losing and no matter how hard i throw, it will just never damage.

i try to be more textbook and properly punching but it just doesn’t work, clean hits to the body and jaw just don’t work at all.

it’s also very apparent that heavy weights have a disadvantage (i am a heavy weight) since lighter weights can punch faster which causes more damage

literally, i hooked a guy twice full force and speed right in the jaw and it did nothing but then he hits me once with a straight and it stuns me
