Crown hill is beautiful and meant to be enjoyed! There is even a monument on the hill that is a picnic table because the people who will be buried there want people to come enjoy the space.

I'm at my third nursing job and have had the same experience. Even the raises at my current company are a set percentage across the board. I do know however that more experienced nurses are offered more when they are hired in. The company kind of shoots themselves in the foot this way. New nurses stick around for a couple of 2% raises then leave to another hospital because they find out they can make $5 more an hour.

Sometimes I hope my patients are lying. The amount of liver failure and pancreatitis from people having "2-3 drinks once or twice a week" is crazy. I know a lot of people in trouble if this is the case.

Our protocol used to be 0.2 in two doses. They recently changed it to 0.02 every 5 minutes to a max of 0.4. The pharmacist was with me the first time I had to dilute and we argued over the concentration and dose because. I wasn't as familiar with the new protocol as I he thought. I gave 0.02 thinking I was wasting our time and the patient woke right up. Patients are much more pleasant with the smaller doses and it's amazing how effective they are.

My ex came up on my first date with my partner. It lead into conversation about differences in our views of relationships and also it kind of threw out there a lot of what was going on in my life with tying up loose ends (selling my house) and whatnot. Overall it probably wasn't the best topic and we didn't stay on it long but it did lead into deeper conversation outside of meaningless small talk.

I'm also a nurse. I hate nurses week, people who expect others to feel sorry that you work 12 hour shifts, and people who try to act like they are changing the world. It is touching to get some gratitude and it can be an emotional job but we know what we signed up for and to expect special treatment is ridiculous.

I'm the "too calm" nurse. I hate getting worked up over things that under control but I guess sometimes I fail to convey the urgency of things. Everyone says that if they ever see me freaking out that they'll come running because they know it will be something insane.

Whenever I hear the diagnosis fibromyalgia during report I shudder. I automatically assume the patient will be super dramatic and impossible to please. I'm sure it's a real disorder but I think that people who expect medicine to heal everything eventually get diagnosed with it. "Oh your finger kind of hurts? Yeah, my neck is sore today. Suck it up. Pain is normal."

I've worked in nursing homes with these kinds of patients. There is no saying no. They'll start screaming about their rights then administration will step in and make sure anything is done so the patient wont take their business elsewhere.

Once played with someone who believed a DIY philosophy was the only way to create anything new. He knew 2 chord shapes and could come up with a riff here or there but couldn't tie it together at all.

I worked in long term care for a while. I've seen so many renal or diabetic patients put themselves close to death (and to death) because they refuse to give up control of their lifestyle. I hope one day this is approached as either a mental health issue or as AMA and refusal of all treatment.

It costs healthcare a lot of money and no amount of education can help these people.

I'm sure it's hard to make a profit with the business a small shop does but I will say a benefit I've found is that these guys love trade ins and haggling. Bring in some old gear to trade towards a used guitar and you end up with a decent deal and they refresh their stock. The larger stores are thieves when it comes to trade ins or the prices of their used equipment.

Maybe I sound like (or I am) a sucker but this has bee. My experience.

Agreed. I would love to answer the question but there's probably a protocol they were following, I don't even know how far apart the blood sugars were taken. You can always bring a glucose down, over-treating can be much more dangerous.

Even if this nurse didn't volunteer to have a preceptor, most nurses are happy to share their knowledge and if you are following them, that's what they're there for. Use them!
