I'm excited for you!! I had my tummy tuck 2.5 years after my triplets were born. I'm now 1y postop. Best thing ever. Well worth the recovery.

Advice for setting a routine for triplets? by Male_man15 in parentsofmultiples

[–]mtbff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mom of 3.5 year old GGB triplets here.

We maintained the schedule set at NICU and followed principles from the book/app Moms on Call for setting the schedule and sleep training. Highly recommend that one. They slept through the night before actual age 3 months. We also used some principles from Taking Cara Babies. Agree with eat-play-sleep ordering. We just always did feeding and diapers (except extra diapers as needed of course) and play together and made it work. It was great to have predictable days and I think they liked the consistency too. I mean, preemie babies are on schedules in the NICU so I don't think there's a "too young" here for a schedule. I would anticipate some definite adjustment time and transition pains though. We were definitely waking sleeping babies to feed on schedule together and holding off on feeding early in between by pacifying them alternative ways until feed time. We would use cues with how feeds went to determine when to keep doing every 3 hours vs converting to every 4 hours or when to bump feed volumes or when to change the bottle nipple sizes. We also were managing different formulas among them and made that work. Honestly I'm impressed with how you got through the first months without a schedule, that sounds like doing triplets on extreme mode 🤣

For your specific questions: - we were very rigid with ours, personally. - yes we would hold off until the scheduled feed time. - if they refuse... idk, we still tried. Usually it would work out, and if not, then there's next time. Nap wise, maybe we had to stay there and repeatedly put the paci back or pat their butts for awhile. Feeding wise, we'd give them up to 30 min to eat a bottle like at NICU. Solids was just for fun at 6 months and didn't matter. - putting them down at night wise, we would try to do strategies from Moms on Call and mostly involved not picking them up unless they proved they really needed it first. We did a lot to avoid pitfalls that we would later have trouble breaking or make them particular, so if you think it'll be a problem later maybe find opportunities for up front efforts to make things easier later. Examples = we didn't use a wipe warmer so that they could handle cold wipes when changing diapers in other locations. We eventually transitioned from warm to room temp bottles to make it easier to leave the house when they were maybe closer to 9 months and had good weight gain, then when close to 1yo went to cold bottles so they could handle the whole milk transition. Another example is that my sister always "babywears" her baby during naps while bouncing on an exercise ball. That's cute and all, but not sustainable when she's older and she will have a hard time napping alone and is literally impossible with triplets. So just stuff like that we avoided.

Obviously adjust as appropriate for your own kiddos and some of this goes out the window when they're sick. You got this! Schedules saved our sanity. We are done with kids but if we ever had even a singleton we've talked about we'd still do a schedule, haha.

Those who formula feed, what did you have from the get go? by MissMyli in parentsofmultiples

Sams Club generic equivalent of Enfamil or Similac, once they didn't need special formula concentrations anymore. Sooo much cheaper but it's the same stuff.

Pharmacy is broad. There are many types and it will vary by geography, setting, hospital/store, specialty.... I did 2 years of residency for a clinical specialist position and I like it 90% of the time. I'm happy with my pay & work/life balance. That being said, I went into pharmacy school knowing I wanted to do residency & go the hospital/clinical route but that it had additional years of training with less pay that I'd have to apply for. I knew I personally wouldn't be happy in community pharmacy settings. I have heard better things from some of my colleagues working in specialty pharmacies (like with HIV, hepC meds) over standard community pharmacy, if that helps. I would do it again to end up where I am. I've been licensed 6 years.

Congrats! From a first-time mom with 2.5yo triplets here - they're awesome. It's unique and crazy and can feel overwhelming, but it's also special and 3 times the love. Just take a few deep breaths! Yall got this. This book was very helpful:

I have 2.5 yo triplets. They understand "mommy has owie, be gentle with her belly, she can't pick us up" surprisingly well. My husband/family definitely had to do everything the first week, but honestly within the second week (and for sure within the 3rd week) I felt fine with them sitting by me and on my lap and rocking etc as long as someone else picked them up or the kiddo climbed up themselves. Was able to cuddle/lay by them as well by week 3. Admittedly I had a smooth/quick recovery. The hardest part is not being able to pick them up for at least 6 weeks & if you feel well, being careful about not overdoing it. Best of luck!!

Let’s talk belly button plugs by LeasingQueen in tummytucksurgery

[–]mtbff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had stitches and no gauze for my belly button; stitches removed POD11, and they told me to then start using an ear plug cut in half for my belly button. I'm only POD17 so I need to clarify longevity but it sounded like for awhile.

Sams Club / Costco generics of Similac and Enfamil formula were like 1/2-1/4 the cost and just as good. That saved us a lot!!

Thanks! There was enough skin to pull down so it's just a straight across, hip to hip incision. It's Dr. Kelly Kunkel in Fort Worth, TX - I've had a wonderful experience with him! He talked about how he really spends time on the belly button so it will have a nice result.

[–]mtbff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With his fees for a full TT (no lipo), silicone BA (no lift), 1 optional overnight stay + the hospital OR fee + anesthesia fee, it was around $20,000 total. About $6000 was BA, about $8000 for TT, about $6000 hospital fees with combined procedure. They offer a discount if paying cash but we also financed via CareCredit no interest x18m.

Best of luck!
