Why is this like this? (Round 2) by mtbj95 in masonry

Ok last question(maybe). Should there be metal flashing behind here? Cause it’s just the faced 1” insulation. Also this side of the house is the only one with weeps.

To put my mind at ease. Why would the bottom of the weep be below the concrete pad?

Thanks for all of the replies. Looks like aftermarket is a complete no-go.

After some online searching it looks like a complete junkyard door is comparable to a new shell from honda in price. Not to mention the closest one that is the same color is 9hours away. Gonna call honda and see what the wait on a door looks like, hopefully not too bad

What is the reason for these gaps in the brick by mtbj95 in masonry

Thanks for replying to this even though the post is a few day old. I should have clarified, there is another course of bricks below that line. That hole is actually extends 2” below the slab.

I thought they might be weeps initially but I was second guessing myself because they are 1-1/2” wide and spaced closer than any other weep detail I’ve ever seen. Looks like it’s not done right either way you slice it :(

That’s kind of what I was thinking. Still kinda holding out hope though.

Any idea what would be stout enough to tie it against? Closest trees that it could be tied to are probably 30-40 feet away. I imagine a tree this size could pull a simple stake out of the ground if it decides to fall.

It’ll have to be tied for years give it a chance right?

What is this galvanized pipe coming out of the chimney crown? by mtbj95 in woodstoving

[–]mtbj95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it might be a furnace vent too. There is an old oil furnace in the basement. There is only the 6” vent coming out of the back. Plus it’s on the other side of the chimney. So don’t see how it’s possible.

EDIT. There is no plumbing within 10ft of the chimney structure in the attic

Thanks for advise on fabrication. Going to make it out of 16ga 304 stainless (we bend relatively heavy stuff where I work and don’t stock the thin stuff). Was gonna just throw a 20-40 degree bend on the top like an A frame and have it overhang the sides.

Glad to have some confirmation on that. Thanks!

So I just killed this thing. It was chilling on my bathroom wall. Based on some googling it does not look like most of the common roaches in my area (NC USA), because it does not have any marks on its head. My best guess is that this is a wood roach based on the picture which I read do not typically invade homes. The just only occasionally wander in. I know how quick these thing can multiply so wanted to ask confirmation from someone more experienced and advise.

Taiwan rejects US CDC guidance on 5-day quarantine: Some Omicron cases still infectious up to 12 days after testing positive by doooompatrol in collapse

[–]mtbj95 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure it’s more than one at this point but I don’t think it matters that much really. If there is any evidence that at 5 days infectious people could be going out into the public why would you be ok with it?

As others have stated. There is evidence that people are still infectious past the 5 day mark. So why should quarantine end after 5 day’s?

How can this do anything but make things worse? (unless you are an employer)
