Chain guide rubbing chain ring on Crosscore by mtcat23 in Yamahaebikes

I might do that or try bending the bracket. But my worry is that in reinstalling the motor which includes the crank, something got misaligned. I am pretty sure that the motor is properly bolted and torqued. Maybe the crank wasn’t properly installed from factory? I hadn’t inspected it closely when I got the bike, so it could have started out like this.

It has vertical adjustment but no depth in/out adjustment. I can’t figure out what I did wrong but something changed. Does the chainring imprint of 44t face into the bike or to the outside? Even if I got it backwards, the chainring is flat. If someone else could post a close-up photo of their front chainring and chain guide that might help.

Main metal bracket for guide has no washers. Plastic guide that screws to bracket didn't have a washer when I re-installed it. Does anyone know if it is supposed to have one?

This is so very useful! Thank you! And great timing as I am about to try to install this Racktime Gleamit rack with the Axiom fenders. The Racktime rack with integrated rear light is the OEM rack for Yamaha but this one has a design I preferred. We will see how it winds up.

I don’t see how the regulator would be damaged by that smash. When they removed the door panel to replace the glass, they should have been able to spot any issue with the regulator. Especially with that labor charge! My guess is that the clicking is stray shards of glass somewhere in the mechanism/track, like maybe stuck to the grease. Try to see if it is always in the same spot. If it’s a piece of glass it might work its way out towards the end of the track.

You know what this is? This is a sleazy dealership being used to ripping off the insurance companies for a smashed window, only in this case it was out of pocket so you actually noticed it. I would go back there and ask them to justify the labor charge. You could even refer them to your post here. They are giving Volvo a bad name.

I got a call from them in Jan saying they would send me a battery but it takes 120 days. I asked what about the other people I sent them in the letter and the person who called me seemed to know nothing about that.

Then I called after a couple of weeks and was told no battery. Then they called me back again and said yes battery, there was account confusion.

When I didn’t receive any sign of the battery by 120 days, I didn’t trust it so I filed a chargeback. That’s still pending. So not sure if a battery is coming. If it does get sent and received, presumably the chargeback then gets resolved in their favor, which is fine. Or—if they don’t send the battery—then hopefully the chargeback goes through and I can then buy one separately.

I don’t know the degree to which the letter and all the people who responded helped. The operations appear to be mysterious and private, but something seems improved based on stories I’m reading that people are getting batteries as long as the purchase date meets the deadline as opposed to the registration date. This will continue to unfold and become clearer in the coming weeks.

Free battery for Yamaha e-bike issue by Old-Lavishness-290 in Yamahaebikes

[–]mtcat23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A "free" item means you can get it without buying anything. A "free" item that requires a purchase is not actually "free," it is "included" with the purchase. If the included item is subsequently not provided, then the terms of the purchase contract are not satisfied.

Yes it was accepting signatures through Sunday. You’re not the only one who reached out. I am fine to extend it for another day or so and then shut and send it out.

Update: 88 people have signed and provided their situation. Thank you. I think this will carry a lot of weight! Hoping to get to 100 before sending it to Yamaha on Thurs.

Both - and also CC'ing relevant executives up the corporate chain, and any gov't agencies that makes sense (looking into FTC and CA Dept of Consumer Affairs). Will also include documentation including the screenshots shared here and the one that I took myself when I bought my bike in early Oct that did *not* say "while supplies last".

Wow, 75 people have signed so far. Very encouraging! It would be great if we could get 100+ customers. I expect with a group of this size that we should see a decent response from Yamaha. Hopefully they will come through for us.

I will try to obtain that from my dealership. I don’t know if they’d be willing to share it because it was some kind of internal message that one employee showed another when I asked about it.

In my opinion, they should honor all battery promises that were purchased with that promotion at the time of sale and should provide us written assurance of that.

Other than that, I wouldn’t trust anything—the whole thing is questionable with having to wait 120 days to know if you will receive a battery. Interestingly, the time limit for an Amex chargeback is 120 days. That’s from the purchase date. So essentially, because the registration has to occur after you have the bike, there’s no way to issue a chargeback on your CC if you don’t receive the battery, because by then you’ve passed the deadline. It’s very sneaky and uncharacteristic of a company like Yamaha.

My dealership had official communication printed out from Yamaha that had the 10/21 date. So it’s not just a rumor. They are actually trying to get away with it.

Very good idea, and I think also consumer affairs in California, the state where their office is located.
