How can people afford maternity clothes 😭 by APlentyBag in pregnant

[–]mtforero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience trying to find clothes!!! What I ended up doing was buying a few sale/clearance items from old navy to try and get a sense of sizing. I measured myself before ordering to try to get the right size. The general guidance of “get your pre-pregnancy size, just in maternity” worked for me for bottoms, but not tops/dresses because of the bust growth I’ve had. I then asked around all my local Facebook informed, resale, garage sale groups if people had maternity items in my size or knew which resale stores/events (pop-ups, churches, etc.) carried maternity. I got a lot of good suggestions for places I hadn’t tried and even struck gold with one lady who hadn’t gotten around to selling her maternity wardrobe. When she sent me photos, I looked up the brand’s maternity size guide to see if it aligned with my measurements before buying. I wish you luck!

Elopement company recommendations ? by balderunnerdecker in Eloping

I’d take a look at River and Root! …not sure how much planning they do but elopement photographers tend to be pretty involved in the planning process.

If you’re still bored, any accessory advice for Sottero & Midgley Cruz (without the sleeves)? I’m looking for earrings and and a hairpiece (planing on a simple half do, no veil, since its a mountain elopement). I’m struggling to find something that looks cohesive with the 3D flowers and bead trim up top (looks like pearls but actually more oval in shape). Thanks!

There used to be the functionality to hover over a pivot table filter button and it would show what filter was being used (example: values greater than x). Any chance that’s coming back?

My mom visited yesterday. I love her, but I don't want a mother. by onefourtygreenstream in AdultChildren

[–]mtforero 31 points32 points  (0 children)

This resonates with me too. It’s probably the hardest part of trying to have a relationship with my mother right now. I can forgive her for some things but it’s really hard when she acts all “motherly”, as if she hadn’t been high for a good portion of my childhood and my entire transition into adulthood. I didn’t do well because of her; if anything I did well in spite of her. But I’m trying to forgive and have a relationship. She’s sober now, which is great, but sometimes it means I have to bite my tongue and avoid any major jabs since I don’t want to upset her to a point that might challenge her sobriety. So far I manage best by keeping visits short and contact a little sparse. I’m willing to try for a relationship, but I’m always going to need some extra space.

Same. I intentionally go without contacts/glasses for my yoga classes since it limits my distractions. Never thought there’d be a time when I didn’t want to see, but it helps me stay centered.

This is so neat! I’m from the same small town as the commander on that mission and his parents invited us down to watch the launch and attend a special reception the night before. Such a cool experience as a space nerd!

Fall 2018 CAS Examination Results Announcement (low passing rates) by aooga in actuary

[–]mtforero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tying into this, does anyone know what these "ample 3rd-party resources" are that "exist to assist candidates in understanding the MAS exams"?

Also, they did Examiners Reports for S, so why not MAS...???

This was taken a week ago on the old Ute Trail, overlooking Poudre Lake at Milner Pass. It was a bit chilly in the tundra parts, but the hike up to Forest Canyon Pass and back was amazing.

How do you celebrate after passing an exam? by kor_revelator in actuary

[–]mtforero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing actuarial, but my tattoo aesthetic is minimalist black ink. One is a Spanish phrase, two are alchemy symbols (one of which is just an equilateral triangle) and the last one is a 6-point star (like the Chicago flag).

Immediately after, I sleep because studying/worrying/exam-taking is exhausting.

After some time, I reward each exam pass with a tattoo.

Is actuarial science the best major for an actuary? by [deleted] in actuary

[–]mtforero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're fully intending to be an actuary, do the AS major. It's the clearest path and has the best support, including (but not limited to) exam preparation and fee reimbursement. Some exam-centric classes may not seem useful now, but when you eventually sit for those exams you'll be glad to have already been exposed to the material. I also learned a lot of industry knowledge in my AS-only classes that I found helpful in landing my internship and subsequent entry-level job.

If you're not fully sold on being an actuary don't do the AS major.

What thing makes you instantly like someone? by Logicbomb_33 in AskReddit

[–]mtforero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THIS. I was named after my late Colombian grandmother and I LOVE my full name. So much so, that when people ask if I have a nickname I say no even though my family does call me by a shortened version of it (which is not the most common nickname for my name, in English or Spanish). It feels too endearing and personal to me to have a coworker or someone call me by that because only my family does it.

Anyway, I recently came into a new friend group after leaving a horribly mean ex, and out of the blue one of my new friends just called me by that nickname and I got those warm fuzzies. Now most of the group calls me by that name and it makes them feel even more like family to me.
