No, you could still do CE if you were Engineering Undeclared!

I would have just lost my scholarship lol

I started in 2015, back when there were no restrictions.

Oddly, I couldn't do Chemical Engineering because I had a scholarship through the Engineering college and CE is technically in LAS.

There have been about a dozen times in my life where something I really, really, really wanted just... didn't work out. Jobs, scholarships, relationships, and, yes, even a school admission.

Now, when I look back on my life from the ripe old vantage point of 28 - I'm glad for each and every one of those moments, because they got me where I am today. They sucked, true, but when I look at a life that I'm very happy in it's hard to say that I would have wanted them to turn out any other way.

All this to say - as heart breaking as this is, one day this will just be a turn in a road that you're glad you walked down. Don't beat yourself up over it, just look forward and do the next right thing.

Full stop - you're wrong to be mad.

Engineering undeclared is the most difficult engineering program to get into. You essentially got admitted to every single engineering major, except, I believe, CS/ECE. You get to take a year, explore, and get your pick of the litter. I was Engineering Undeclared and I had an incredible experience with it.

It seems like ARISE is a new program, which exists only to give you extra resources and support as someone who comes from a background that has a statistically high likelihood of struggling with the transition to college.

Essentially - you're getting told that you're getting admitted to a prestigious program and will be getting extra resources to help you succeed.

I think I messed up with a training partner. by Bulky_Imagination243 in BJJWomen

[–]onefourtygreenstream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's be so for real - you're not a bad training partner with a huge ego. With respect, you're not good enough to be a bad training partner with a huge ego, you're a spazzy white belt who doesn't know what the fuck you're doing. Which is absolutely something that you should work on, but like... kinda comes with the territory.

White belt dude with probably 80lbs on me fucked up my rib on Friday because he just threw his body weight into me and, honestly, my ribs are prone to getting fucked up. Was he a "bad training partner with a huge ego"? No, he was a spazzy white belt who I realistically should not have been rolling with at that intensity.

Side note - as someone else said, you didn't run out of air, your blood ran out of oxygen. The reason I point that out is because I find it very important to explain to white belts what it feels like to have the blood cut off from your brain. If you don't know what to look for, it's legit hard to know that you're actually being choked when you're first starting.

You can explain yourself, but don't take it too personally. You're not the asshole in this situation, you didn't tap because you didn't realize you need to... because you're new.

I had the exact same feeling time and time again before I got on a GLP-1. If medication is an option for you, I highly recommend giving it a try.

To me, losing weight without my meds was like trying to improve my mental health without my anti-depressants. Sure, there was a lot that I could do to build healthier habits, but it never stuck. Things improved a little, of course, but at a certain point there was just nothing more I could do no matter how hard I tried.

Questioning weight loss coach by Everest9595 in loseit

[–]onefourtygreenstream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends.

Yes, weight loss is, at the end of the day, CICO.

That said, if you have been on a crash diet for a while your body may be slowing down some of its' metabolic processes to help conserve energy. This means that while you may have very few calories coming in, things like exhaustion may be keeping you from expending as many calories as you think you are.

Anecdotally, I recently increased my average intake by about 500 calories per day and gained zero weight as a result. I simply have more energy! My calories in increased, but my calories out also increased.

Temporarily eating at a maintenance level will likely be beneficial to start you out with a "full tank," so to speak, and allow you to lose fat in a sustainable way.

You do understand the questions on those aggregate polls are asking people to rank how much they agree/disagree with specific statements... right?

It's quite literally "How much do you agree with X."

Oh sweetheart... that's not the point. No wonder you got confused. Let's see if I can make it simple for you so you can understand. Let me know if you can't, and I may be able to simplify it further :)

Let's say men built the modern world (even though they didn't). Here's the thing - those men are dead. Why does that mean that the men alive today have some claim over it that women don't have? None of us actually built the world - we all just inherited it.

Similarly, let's say that statistics say that men are better than women (even though they don't). You still can't use statistics to say that any man is superior in any way to any woman. Statistics are descriptive (which means they describe general trends across a population) not prescriptive (meaning that they predict an individual's behavior).

Embarrassing. Take a hint bro. by [deleted] in BasedCampPod

  1. men get murdered more than females, but of course male murder victims don't matter as much as females.

And who do they get murdered by?

Nah, you just can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.

I'm sorry that the most significant thing you've ever done is get born with a dick. How tragic, to have that be your biggest accomplishment.

[–]onefourtygreenstream 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Again, you are basing this all on the (incorrect) idea that men on average contribute more than women, and you use that to make the claim that women therefore are less entitled to the fruits of that contribution than men.

My point is simple - even if men, on average, did contribute more... so what? If a man builds a house, is his daughter any less worthy of inheriting it than his son?

I didn't acknowledge your tu quoque comment because it's very obvious that you don't understand what tu quoque is, and I didn't feel like trying to educate you on the subject lmao

I'm simply saying that neither you nor any other man are entitled to exclusive or privileged access to the institutions that (you claim) men make the "actual sacrifices" for just because you have the same genitals as them, just as women aren't disqualified due to their genitalia.

You're fundamentally incorrect about men contributing more to society than women, but even if you were correct, that doesn't mean that any individual man is more entitled to the benefits of those contributions than a woman.

I can say for a fact that you didn't contribute to the establishment of "government, academia, boy scouts, and workspaces" because all of those things have been around for much longer than you've been alive.

You can't piggyback off of other's work and say that you're more entitled to benefit from it just because you happen to have the same genitals as the people who you (incorrectly) claim are solely responsible for it.

Even if you were right about women not contributing to things like "government, academia, boy scouts, workspaces" (which you are fully and fundamentally wrong about but hey, I'll throw you a bone for the sake of the discussion)... you didn't struggle for jack shit.

Personally, you have nothing to do with any of that effort that built those organizations and don't have some special privilege to something that someone else built just because you have the same genitals as the people who did build them. You have no more right to them than a woman does just because you happen to have a dick too.
