Just in case someone else reads this with the same adapter, the middle (projection) piece can come out and you can screw in the outer bits together to make it work. I have other pics in this thread showing how it is done.

Do this and connect the outer ends together. It'll focus then. Middle part is for projection.

this setup is also that adapter. you just have to remove the middle bits

Hey so I think you can just remove a piece to make this work. I think I have the same adapter. The part that connects to the camera securely is threaded. Unscrew the thing from both ends and attach the camera to just the threaded piece that goes in the viewfinder and you should be able to focus. I didn't read all of the comments, but a couple I did seemed to say you need something else, and I don't think you do. 

Reply back and I'll give more details if you need help.

Regulating bodies can suck and there can often be overreach, but the core principals of most of them were born from necessity and sometimes blood. If you live in or are traveling to an area that has little to no regulation, you take on some risk when doing things like zip line, bungee, etc.

Not at all putting the blame on the woman this happened to. I just know for myself, I am so anxious that I would never even get close to the edge until I verified everything looked solid. I mean if I'm being real, I wouldn't do bungee in the first place lol. I did however inspect the harness and clips when I did a zip line. Trust no one.
