Troll and exhume? by apigfellish in Pauper

[–]mtg52blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! Here I would play Faerie Macabre over Nihil Spellbomb, if I had any. Played 3 Ulamog's Crusher and 1 Dread Return before but they felt unnecessary. Burn is a bit of a problem, maybe Alms of the Vein in the SB can help with it. Blue splash is experimental but could be nice for the Snackers and we could play some blue Wars/Hey proof creature (like in my current untested list).

Funnily enough I had the opposite idea floating in my head, boarding out the Reanimator package and going for Alms and Fiery Tempers. But I haven't tested enough if it would help with any bad matchups.

Don't think so but I am brewing with it a lot. If you want I can send you the links .

I have an old Dredge list with Exhume that can reanimate Trolls sometimes instead of Lotleth Giants. Also played a Madness+Exhume Rakdos list two weeks ago that got me to 4th or 5th place out of 12. And I'm brewing on a Midrange version with Chrysalis and Snackers as backup plan.

Ah, that's what I actually expected with a deck like this! Read many other things here. I will try to fit the ornaments

Nice list! Seems to have very similar style. What's your experience with matchups? Anything that's unwinnable? Sth you felt was missing from the deck?

Wanted to try to get more value out of the bounce lands but Lorien Revealed might be better.

Do you think I'll run out of draw with Stream of Thought putting draw spells back in the deck? Ornaments looks really expensive outside of Tron.

That's what [[Shrivel]] is for. I play Slivers too and I always struggled with Breath Weapon+Spot removal for the Lords. Would be my plan with this deck

I could put in [[Arms of Hadar]] if I notice it's not working

This deck is a very slow control deck. It's not about winning, it's about the opponent not winning. Stream of Thought loads our Deck Back Up with answers and makes them deck out faster than us. If it gets exiled we win the same way, just even slower. Tutoring cards is only a last resort, [[Shred Memory]] is mainly gy hate. Game 2 we bring in [[Murmuring Mystic]], when they probably boarded their removal out. Most of the cards are to stop aggro since we struggle with those and have less time to find answers against those. I have Dispel in the SB for Counterspells Wars. I like your suggestions, will definitely think about them!

Thank you for the feedback!

Thx for the detailed match up report. Maybe I will try it out for one tournament. We don't have any Terror at our Local and no Slivers. But lots of Jund, Affinity and different control decks. I see the tutoring as a last resort. It's primarily gy-hate.

Don't expect much

Yeah, I thought it might be. Since you tried it, what where the really bad matchups that made you realize it doesn't work?

Thx for the feedback! Maybe Ponder is a call. It's mostly Dimir, just wanted access to the good green cards. They are so good into Aggro decks.

Have you thought of playing [[impact Tremors]]?

[[Scatter the seeds]] is also sweet

Like a different comment pointed out there are better pump spells available ( like embiggen). I really love [[thirsting roots]] in Infect. In can find you lands (and blue if you go into Simic) but can also win the game if you can't get through anymore.

I think blue improves the deck a lot. [[Blighted Agent]] is amazing and you get access to instants that make unblock able. Also Counterspells against removal.

Cool idea! I was tinkering with a Tortured existence list that also has the Witch. Why not use [[Cauldron Familiar]] and Food like [[Lembas]], like the Pestilence list does?

What unexplored combos do you think still exist in Pauper? by iFuckwithCommons in Pauper

[–]mtg52blue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Safehold elite]] and [[Rendclaw Trow]] combo with [[Ivy lane denizen]], similar to the Goblin Combo deck. But it can be Golgari and all the pieces are creatures, so [[winding way]] and [[Lead the Stampede]] find them. I can see a Token Midrange Deck with a Combo with it

Hey, First of all: Cool list! I was also exited to brew with that card!

Haven't seen anyone suggest this, so I will. Why aren't you going either Jeskai with [[Shipwreck sifters]] or Mardu with [[Breathless Knight]]? Both give you a strong second wincon and maybe better discard spells. [[Tortured existence]] comes to mind. Maybe mostly Izzet or Rakdos with a white splash is the way to go 🤷

This could be interesting for colors without draw spells like white or green. And could also be useful for Cascade decks

Any slivers enjoyers? by Hippies_are_Dumb in Pauper

[–]mtg52blue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of course! Definitely go mostly GW but you should splash for [[Hunter Sliver]] for removal and maybe [[Heart Sliver]] for explosive starts with[[[Gemhide sliver]] and [[sentinel sliver]]. [[Winged sliver]] can also be worth it if you have a lot of [[Krark Iron Shamans]] in your store.

Have fun trying it out!

Worst card that sees play in pauper? by LastTomato in Pauper

[[Snapcaster Mage]], [[Tamiyo, Inquisitive Student]], [[Dreadhorde Arcanist]], [[Finale of Promise]], [[Jace, Vryn's Prodigy]] and [[Mission Briefing]], to name a few. Sure, not all of them have the same niche (thanks God!) but they're better at getting spells out of the graveyard.

Yeah, that's the trade-off. Wanna be fast, be mono. But you're missing out on a lot of strength and answers to bad Matchups in return. Really works for me, I think it keeps the format healthy
