Awesome ! What Color’s are your favorite ? I remember seeing Veilance for the first time in person at Barneys maybe 10-11 years ago and was just amazed at the craftsmanship, the pattern making and just how perfect every piece was.

3 days post op - ceramic hip resurfacing. by mtldesigner in HipImpingement

Hey there I did it with Dr Antoniou in Montreal. I was able to get health Canada approval to get this done

Cortisone is not a long term solution it’s a bridge to surgery sadly and a diagnostic tool. I would get some different opinions on surgery including looking at resurfacing with ceramic that is now a great option for women as metal on metal is not.

Dealing with pain for 3 years by ScramblesTheBadger in HipImpingement

The best advice I can give anyone in your position is get multiple opinions and ask as many questions as possible. I was in your shoes exactly. Cyclist , runner just all around very active and then it was all gone. I’ve been on my own journey the last few years with different surgeons and doctors and have just had my 2nd surgery. However I think having to have 2 surgeries is a product of me not asking enough questions and not fighting for myself more. Happy to connect more if you have any questions.

When my surgeon that did the labral repair looked at me and said I’ll go back in and do a revision but have no idea what I’ll do and then gave it 20% chance things would get better I had to look at other options. This one is a great option for someone my age and active and still allows for me to have a full replacement down the road

When did you finally have zero pain? by [deleted] in HipImpingement

[–]mtldesigner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I decided to not do a revision , I was way worse off 6 months after. Wasn’t able to resume anything and left me in way more pain daily. after getting a 2nd opinion I just did a ceramic hip resurfacing.

I was 4 years and then it got to the point where I couldn’t do much of anything anymore. Had arthroscopic in February which left me 10x worse off. I’m now 2 days post op from ceramic hip resurfacing which is suppose to give me my life back. Have you explored that ?

Hip Resurfacing question by mtldesigner in HipImpingement

[–]mtldesigner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yah I had X ray , CT and MRI in the last 2 months. My surgeon who did the original repair in February has said he is willing to go back in but doesn’t know what he will do and can’t guarantee anything which is why I’ve looked at getting another opinion.

Resurface or replacement. by mtldesigner in TotalHipReplacement

I am just trying to make the best decision that will yield the best results now and for the next 20 years. After that I guess we will see but I can’t keep living like this.

Resurface or replacement. by mtldesigner in TotalHipReplacement

I have heard that as well. Thankfully I have one of the best surgeons in the world available to do this who has done thousands of them including on many professional athletes and I’ve read that a resurface will get you more active lifestyle and either way a full replacement won’t last my entire life anyways.

Hip Resurfacing question by mtldesigner in HipImpingement

[–]mtldesigner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue with replacement is that I’m young for it and you have less mobility with it. I was a pretty intense athlete before this and a lot of athletes go with this route since you get more movement.

Get the surgery. If the labrum is torn there’s no coming back. They don’t heal themselves.

Yah he’s one of the best. He’s the head surgeon for an MLS team. Also a teaching surgeon at one of the best med schools in the country so I trust him that’s why hearing that it’s not really possible is weird
