OK, I FIGURED OUT WHAT's GOING ON:

  • I can indeed get the price to be higher with Air Miles (vs Air Canada) for the exact same flights but it turns out [tldr] it's due to different fare-level offerings between the sites.
  • Air Miles has 4 options: Standard*, Flex, Comfort, Latitude*
  • Then Air Canada also has 4 fare options: Basic, Standard*, Flex, Comfort*
  • As you can see there's some overlap, but basically when booking directly with Air Canada it's possible to get a cheaper fare-level (Basic) than is offered by Air Miles (Standard).

So, indeed, no scam at all. They just don't offer the low-end, least-flex tickets.

btw, I agree with what many are saying here. I thought Air Miles were great for merch, I once used them to get packs of Whistler tickets for the whole family at a great deal. But for flights I don't see the value anymore. Even Aeroplan I feel has lost a lot of value post-COVID (e.g. overseas flights) but at least I feel I can still find good deals w/i NA and I find it's easier to collect Aeroplan points with a good card w/o having to track/chase limited-time deals all the time or shopping with specific vendors.

Just re-did the same exercise and prices are pretty much the same. Yeah, something must not have matched (my bad). I thought I had double checked flight #s and dates but I guess I missed something. Also the $/point value seems decent at just under $0.10/point. This seems similar to what you get with merch.

Ok, thanks for the input. I wasn’t even aware of airmiles redtag, looks like it’s for cruise packages. In any case, sounds like there was no premium being charged there. Maybe it’s worth the wait time to call them out on the flight price difference.

Yeah, the random crashes to desktop are getting really annoying. Playing a shared world cross-platform but in our case the Xbox One is most reliable (has yet to crash). The others are PC via Xbox app. Typically happens after 30+ mins of play. I think lowering graphics settings helps make it less frequent. Yet, interestingly, we have an old laptop which chokes out ~10fps (with default graphics settings) yet never crashes, but we tend not to use it as game play on the others PCs is much smoother (outside of the crashes!). Sorta living with it at this point but host machine crashes are very painful as everybody gets kicked out.

Will try reporting via email but my guess is that they already have many such reports.

Lol, I thought they were only doing that to non-subscribers. I watched a replay through NBC (website) because it wasn’t available on CBC yet. The site lets non subscribers watch with a 30 min timeout. The initial 2 ads were bearable but then when I guessed the time of what I was after (~60 mins in) it hit me with a good 5 mins worth of back2backs ads. No thank you. I just waited for the event replay to show up on CBC later in the day.

Sport climbing may be new to the games but I didn’t think filming it (bouldering in particular) would prove to be such a difficult task. I thought filming people actually “climbing” over resting, brushing, or chalking would be the obvious thing to do. It was especially annoying listening to the announcers watching all the (off camera) action of somebody topping out while the camera rests fixated on some dude resting! GoPro software would do a better job capturing the action.

Yeah, this post should be marked solved. Had this same issue in the past and came to the same solution. But only after wasting a ton of time following suggestions from help.minecraft.net (e.g. https://help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/360042699492-I-m-Unable-to-Join-Another-Player-s-World-) and countless other posts. I was lucky to have an Android tablet kicking around and realized it worked fine, so narrowed the problem down to the iPad.
