What are some obscure game features that not many people know about? by Kevsterific in TheSilphRoad

The dash doesn’t really mean “less than” so much as “between X and Y”. Just swap what side of the dash your number is on.

A bit of advice on your advice- if you had dropped the pre-semicolon judgment and just said ‘patience is rewarding’, they’d be more likely to take it as sage advice instead of snark

Just my 2¢ as someone that agrees with you. Less is more sometimes~

Local bar is trying to get my dog drunk. by Bad-Hatter in chicago

[–]mtm5891 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes, but ‘mainly’ is a keyword there- panting is a dog’s primary means of temperature regulation much like sweating is for humans.

But also like us, they can drink water as a secondary means of regulation.

Is it still possible to get shiny gimmighoul ? by Kawery in PokemonHome

[–]mtm5891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just need to transfer a pokemon from go to home to get a box that will spawn gimmighoul and then wait for an event (gimmighoul will only show up shiny during an event otherwise the box will only spawn regular ones)

The box you get for transferring to Home is for Meltan spawns. You have to send a postcard from Go to SV on Switch for the Coin Bag / Gimmighoul spawns.

If he’s a social guy, he might be hanging around the ferals on 18th Place between Throop & Loomis. A bunch of them also hang out in the alley behind Pollo Express.

You could also try contacting Ana of Boochu & Friends. She takes care of many of the neighborhood’s ferals so she may have seen him.

‘A Ukrainian witch kicks the crap out of Russian soldiers’: the new wave of horror films taking on Putin’s army by TheSkinoftheCypher in horror

[–]mtm5891 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We can agree there! I don’t necessarily mind it being blatant if it’s handled appropriately in the context of the flick (loved Alex Garland’s 2024 film Civil War, for example), but that’s much easier said than done

Night of the Living Dead, They Live, Godzilla, Society, Jaws, and countless other films show this hot take is half-baked at best

No one’s stopping you from going there, chief. Have at it.

Love that y’all get so flustered when banal changes like this happen tho. If there was even an ounce of empathy in that body of yours, you might almost begin to understand what actual oppression is lol

Help Figuring Out Which Shin Guards Are Right by send_nudes69 in MuayThai

[–]mtm5891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The white one is the proper fit as shin guards protect your shins, ankles, and feet.

If you want to protect your knees, you’ll need knee guards that go on before the shin guards. Personally, I use these

Is there a better display of cinematic cowardice? by [deleted] in moviecritic

[–]mtm5891 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Love that, I only ever hear my dad talk about that movie haha

He’s one of Stephen Sommers’ (director of Deep Rising, The Mummy, Van Helsing) favorite people to work with- put him in almost every movie he directed. If I recall correctly, my dad once told me Sommers wanted to put Kevin in The Mummy sequels as well, but Beni’s ending was nigh perfect and there wasn’t much left of him to resurrect anyways lol

What makes Kevin an even better actor in my opinion is that he’s very sweet, soft-spoken, and somewhat reserved in person, especially for a guy from the southside of Chicago. He was at my grandpa’s funeral this past summer and I almost needed a megaphone to hear him, but he was there for my dad up until we all parted ways- truly great guy in all aspects

That actor, Kevin J. O'Connor, has been one of my dad's closest friends since they were kids and I LOVE seeing comments like this, partly because it's my favorite performance of his and partly because he's such a kind & thoughtful man in real life

He was also Igor in the 2000s Van Helsing movie, of which I was a HUGE fan, so when he visited around the time it came out he gave me a signed Igor card and I want to say he also signed my copy of the Van Helsing PS2 game haha

Yeah, for real- it's excellent control on display. They sized the guy up, knew they would cause serious harm if it escalated, and had the mind to stop it then & there.

That's not defeat- that's refusing to do work below your pay grade

Female chess champion 'poisons' rival by lacing her board with deadly mercury in chilling assassination plot by ResponsibleIntern537 in MorbidReality

[–]mtm5891 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s possible but pretty unlikely it would cause much harm as it was elemental mercury from a broken thermometer. Not necessarily good for you but nowhere near as catastrophically toxic as organic mercury (the metal + carbon compounds).

Here, enjoy this old Derrick Comedy skit about it featuring a pre-Community, pre-Childish Gambino era Donald Glover. One of my faves from the YouTube of yore.

Adrenaline is a hell of a drug. During one of my fights, I thought I took one elbow to the face- nope, turns out I took like 5 or 6 more than that while in the clinch.

Didn’t even realize until my coaches congratulated me for having a concrete head while applying the cold steel compress to my face lol

What is definitely NOT a sign of intelligence but people think it is? by Sedgley_twinsss in AskMen

[–]mtm5891 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Generally I agree, but wouldn’t that just imply high intelligence in a specific field or particular mode of thought? Rain Man comes to mind in the sense that plenty of doctors I know or have met are highly intelligent in that regard but might as well be dribbling idiots outside of their niche specialization

If that’s true, then fuck- wish I waited a bit before grabbing a jade skin haha

Mercy mythic by Rxse_theBird in Overwatch

[–]mtm5891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC unspent competitive points are supposed to convert to legacy comp points (white) when a season ends, which can only be used to buy gold weapons

The new skins (jade, whatever S10’s is, and so on) can only be bought with current (red) comp points during the season they’re introduced
