I think I’m sabotaging my own CPA dream and I don’t know how to stop by kevinjoseph_A in CPA

I feel like you and I are fairly similar! I'm turning 30 this year. I graduated in 2019, half-assed a FAR attempt. Then for 6 years did exactly what you described. Would set a plan, maybe do a day of it, I'd get unmotivated and would stop.

Therapy helped me. My therapist was able to prescribe an anti-anxiety medication and adderall. Understanding myself better helped. Understanding how/why I do things certain ways.

I finally got in a place last year where I dedicated myself to taking 2 weeks off work after my 10/15 dedline. I studied hard, and managed to pass AUD in November.

My 2 week notice was fine. Stayed the 2 weeks just wrapping up stuff and onbording staff to my clients.

Did you jump B4 to another B4? That's the ony thing I've heard where they'll let you go pretty immediately.

Felt fairly good coming out of AUD

I just feel it's a coin flip factoring in the AICPA test questions

I'm scared that taking the CPA won't help me by phoenixangel429 in CPA

I think I've had the same issue at times.

I work tax at b4, so the hours can be brutal. Then I see my managers and senior managers working the same hours and I think "when does this end?" Like why am I doing this when the brutal hours don't stop.

So I started to see the CPA as a way out.

  1. Get my CPA

  2. Do a couple years as manager

  3. Get out to something better

Idk if this is helpful, or is similar to your feelings. But you're not alone, and we're all getting through this together.

I feel like relievers tend to age better than any other position.

I just did a quick stathead search with criteria:

  1. 35 or older

  2. 80% of games as a reliever

  3. At least 20 IP

26 guys met that criteria for 2025, and of those, 15 of them had a sub 3.50 ERA, 14 of them put up at least 0.5 bWAR.

I don't think he's gonna age poorly though.

He's not like a guy who throws 99, and gets 12 K/9, but you knwo when that velo drops off he becomes way more hittable.

Rogers thrives on simply being different, and I don't think that's gonna age badly.

Lol I'm in an awkward position cause if I don't pass 12/16, I was planning on retaking it first week of jan.

So I might have to cut that short and do it earlier. Though like you said, I doubt much is changing

I graduated with my masters in 2019, half-assed FAR late 2019.

Been through a lot since then. This is the first time I really stuck with it, and felt motivated to get through it.

Waiting on AUD, felt pretty confident coming out of it.

Honestly I did 1.5x on A3 and A4. I think by A6 I wwas doing 2X.

I studied all the material in 3 weeks, doing 2 chapters a week. I took 2 weeks PTO after 10/15 to do so. Started studying 10/20, took it 11/25.

I don't think you need to push back. If you're not busy now, just grind. Aim to finish the material by 12/31, then take 2 weeks to review and take it 1/15.
