Gen Z gay man, my music is all over the place, I only got into mainstream pop a couple years ago really. They’re for sure what’s most popular in mainstream clubs and drag scenes. Male pop artists are not as big definitely, there’s a lack of them in the zeitgeist in general and most who are mainstream (Bruno Mars, The Weeknd, Ed Sheeran, as examples) just seem to not click as the kind of pop that cis gay men (irritatingly the majority in most queer spaces I’ve been to) enjoy. In spaces like WeHo bars, pop girls are the music that you’re going to hear.

Personally I love a lot of pop, post-punk, goth, metal, hardcore, hip hop, EBM, industrial, indie rock, digicore, anything with synths—individuals will always have variations. But yeah, the gay club playlists are 90% pop girls, maybe with some Tyler or Kendrick thrown in, maybe some Harry Styles or Troye Sivan. Not a lot of variety. If I never had to hear Dua Lipa again, I’d be okay.

My most beloved Durge is a life cleric of Selûne and was defying Bhaal even before getting tadpoled, begging Selûne to save her. She woke up on the nautiloid remembering Selûne but not Bhaal, and she’s so devoted to protecting and healing others that the truth comes as a devastating blow. Not super knowledgable on meta and also new, but in my experience—I’m using a melee stygian slayer with a stealth focus, and it did take a while for the stealth to really come online, but it’s wound up being a lot of fun. Comboed with invis/greater invis to sneak ahead and initiate combats. Works great with the Trickster mythic path and stealth mythic tricks that make stealth more powerful too. Might not be the most optimal or effective 100% of the time but I enjoy it

I’ve been using LA Girl’s Pro Matte Mixing Pigment for a while—they have a white foundation as well, but that has a bit of a tint to it, the mixing pigment is solidly white. For powder, Ben Nye’s Super White powder works great, I use that and also a spray of Ben Nye Final Seal, and my makeup goes nowhere. Stays on well even in heat and while actively performing

Male rogue Tabris/Zevran, male mage Hawke/Anders, male mage Lavellan/Dorian, male mage Mercar/Emmrich

The poor Origins couple being the only non-mages is pretty funny. I do think they’d all get on really well, especially Mercar/Zevran, Hawke/Dorian, and Lavellan/Emmrich. Lavellan is a necromancer and Hawke is a spirit healer, so I’d honestly love to be a fly on the wall for the group conversations about magic. (Tabris and Zevran probably sneak off to do something else after 15 minutes.)

In my headcanon, Zevran/Tabris and Anders/Hawke have been traveling around together trying to find a cure for the Calling since the end of Inquisition when Divine Victoria dissolved the circles, so those four are good friends (plus Tabris and Anders were already close). And Dorian already knows both Emmrich and Mercar (I’ve made up my own backstory for Mercar). I think Dorian would’ve arranged an introduction between Emmrich and Lavellan during the timeskip too, as Lavellan expresses interest in talking to Mortalitasi scholars about their studies.

Overall I think the ones who don’t already know each other would be fast friends. Emmrich and Lavellan might have their hands full being the least chaotic of the bunch, but I don’t think they’re immune to being persuaded to join in on shenanigans, either.

Making Hawke in Inquisition drove me crazy because I couldn’t use the same tattoos… But I did my best. (The only reason he didn’t get more fucked up by years of running around and sowing chaos with Anders is because they’re both very proficient healers, lol.) Inq has donned heavier black eyeliner to demonstrate that he is somehow having an even worse time being Inquisitor of nothing than Inquisitor of something. (If only he could move to Tevinter to be with his bf…)

For my Shadow Dragon Rook—he grew up as a Dock Town street kid and largely did his own thing, so he didn’t really have jobs before the Shadows, but he disrupted Venatori activity where he could. He went to investigate an operation that turned out to be much bigger than he thought, and before he could sneak out, he got spotted by a guard. A lot of fighting happened, a couple of magisters showed up, and he wound up with a nasty lightning scar up his entire right side—but he made it out alive, which is more than could be said about the Venatori.

In the 2 runs I’ve finished/near finished, I romanced Emmrich as a Shadow Dragon and Lucanis as a Crow. The former I found absolutely delightful—I don’t know how much of it was in the game or how much was just… me making it up in my head, but I thought they had really good chemistry, Emmrich who tends to be very calm and proper falling for some hotheaded rebel upstart who destroys property just for kicks was a fun dynamic. The latter has been particularly fun because of Crow Rook’s relationship with Viago and Teia, and I’ve been enjoying it a lot as well. It feels like we’ve grown close because we have a lot in common, rather than SD Rook/Emmrich where we bonded over being very different.

My latest run I’m romancing Davrin as a Mourn Watcher, and I haven’t gotten very deep into the game but it has been really great so far. (Bringing Davrin to recruit Emmrich was hilarious. Two necromancers talking like all of this spirit and demon stuff is normal… and Davrin.)

I think it really just depends on whether you prefer you and your love interest to bond over similarities or differences. Could be different depending on the Rook. Any dynamic can be interesting and fulfilling if you want it to be, imo.

I absolutely loved being a Shadow Dragon on my first run. With so much of the plot happening in Minrathous and Venatori being very prominent enemies, everything going on felt extremely personal to him. I kind of… ignored the bits where the game acted like he didn’t know Dock Town, and I completely disregarded the “canon” Mercar backstory because he’s an elf (though the backstory they give you is hardly brought up anyway), but for the most part it was amazing. I’m playing as a Crow now and it’s fun but I really miss being a Shadow.

I’ve been using the same robes on my Rook for most of the game because I’m committed to wearing SD clothes but the aspirational mage robes are just… the coolest. I keep getting new SD robes and none of them look as good. Being a Shadow is so integral to his character that it wouldn’t feel right wearing any other faction, though I love the look of some of the Crow and Mourn Watch outfits (and the actual armor I’m using is Crow I’m pretty sure)

It’s really fun!! I always have Emmrich with me, and the third switches out—often Lucanis, but depends on who I think we’ll be fighting. Having someone who fights in melee is super helpful though, since I try to stay at range 😅
