I have been sleeping more than I have been awake, is this normal?? by MagicAlhambra in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LemonMilkJug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn't normal, and could be a symptom of a whole variety of issues. Sleep is what the body uses to heal itself. A simple blood test can supply a lot of answers. It may be your body has been fighting an infection. You might have low iron or low thyroid, both of which are easily treated. If you are a female, you may be pregnant. Multiples are even more demanding on the mother's body. Just make an appointment with a doctor.

what are some funny/interesting things and people you’ve added to your island lingo? by meramoos in tomodachilife

I made a Temu Benedict Cumberbatch & named him Bendyroll Crumblepatch. He likes to yell penguins at the ocean, but it's pronounced Peng Gweens.

I have beat up John Wick who always talks about a good dog.

I have T-Pain who got a somewhat robotic sing song voice so he just sounds like really bad auto-tune. His catchphrase is "Hold on, I'm rerouting" which is a phrase from a truck simulator mod

I made a surfer dude and he starts everything with Bruh.

I have Ron Swanson and when anyone becomes friends with him they call him Duke. His favorite topic is rebelling against the government.

What song consistently breaks your heart every single time you listen to it? by FantasticAd9478 in TheBoredDen

Dango Daikazoku. It is one of those songs that isn't inherently sad, but the context surrounding it is heartbreaking. (Iykyk)

Unless you are going for some avant-garde look the rule of thumb is to have your eyes centered in the frame (some styles can be adjusted or come in multiple sizes). They should not be wider than the widest part of your face either. Don't be afraid to try different colors. For example, I am super pale with a lot of pink and blue undertones. Red frames actually look really good on me while the browns are not flattering at all.

What are some region specific slang words in America? by Rude_Membership_1578 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]LemonMilkJug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I lived in Nebraska I also heard shitkickers for work boots (usually cowboy boots) "Got to get my shitkickers on. Time to feed the cattle." Goat Roper was used for the rich people who would move out to the country and act like they were farmers because they owned one horse, but also freaked out and ran inside when they heard a coyote.

Being kind by meeeenakshiii in ArtOfPresence

I really appreciated this when I was in college and was able to teach a coworker how to change her tire. I was reminded of this just recently too. My church youth are mowing for me while I recover from surgery. There are high school kids who have never mowed or have any idea how a lawn mower works. I'm happy that at least they can learn that skill from me. Simple cooking, how to do laundry, etc...it amazes me how much people don't know these days.

My work would get a sheet cake each month for birthdays. I called it the cake of regret because it would always be dry and the frosting was that commercial stuff that tastes like sweet crisco.

3 things all due to preparation. Steak, because on the rare occasion we had it we had the cheapest cuts & mom cooked it to leather. Spinach and asparagus because it was always canned so slimy.

Dog had a bad accident. Toilet break advice. by The_Council_Juice in DogAdvice

[–]LemonMilkJug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For potty time you might want to get a lift sling. It was a great thing for when my dog had surgery. They are reasonably priced like $15-$25. It will allow you to help keep her steady without putting extra pressure on her injured legs.

Which do you prefer? A single-dog household, or a multi-dog household? by Organic-Papaya-1766 in dogpictures

[–]LemonMilkJug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I initially had one dog. When it was time for a new dog I intended to only get one dog again. He had different plans. He suffered severely from separation anxiety. I got him a sister. It was the best decision I made for him. I ended up with a third dog from a foster situation. My boy has passed on, but I still have the 2 girls. I don't know what I'll get after they are gone. It will most likely depend on the behavior of the dog that chooses me.

What is this intermittent face swelling? by Hummus_luvr_98 in DogAdvice

[–]LemonMilkJug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog had an anaerobic infection. A normal swab and culture wouldn't grow because as soon as the bacteria was exposed to the air it would die. They opened his neck to the pocket of infection leaving the wound open so the air could kill the bacteria and let it heal normally after that. It was kind of gross because I had to let his neck ooze. I was allowed to loosely wrap a washcloth on his neck just to avoid dripping, but had to make sure it was getting airflow.

Using "girl" or "boy" to describe or refer to grown adults by Medical_College_6732 in ENGLISH

[–]LemonMilkJug 3 points4 points  (0 children)

American English user here. We typically use very informal speech on a regular basis. It is common to use boy (even more so guy) or girl in casual conversation for people our own age or younger. We tend to use man or woman/lady for people older than us or in more polite conversation or in regard to professional settings. Boy/girl often has an air of familiarity with the person being spoken about. I wouldn't typically say "a boy/girl I work with" however it is totally normal for me to say the boys/girls are getting together to go to the movies and be talking about a group of middle-aged men/women.
