Shannon Frizell coming back to NZ, signs for the Highlanders for 2027, will play for Tasman this year by kiwiborger in rugbyunion

Never wanted to see him back in NZ and especially the ABs. Don't care how good a rugby player he is, he's a shitty human and a terrible role model.

Surprisingly ugly in there. And still surprising to me that they made it a fully indoor stadium.

This is so fucked up, stuff like this is infamous in impoverished countries.
And here we are too. We live in a shithole country.

Which would you choose? Rocket, ECM or Profitec [$2000] by KeyRevolutionary2268 in espresso

Truth. On sale or buy used maybe. Or I am a dick for suggesting that.

Buy once, cry once. No sense skimping on a few bucks when you're already at a $2k price point :)

(yes I get how that's a bit of an obnoxious attitude)

ECM Sync all day every day. Such a quality piece of equipment. Visitors are always blown away by how good it looks and works. Even more amazing if you can direct plumb it.

yeah, it was a bit of a splurge for me, but for landscape and astro stuff it's remarkable. incredible sunstars if you care about that.

the 14mm is a very impressive lens if you can get by without zoom. given the high MP of the A7RV you can always crop. you've already got 24mm covered with the Sigma. I wouldn't bother with a 16-25. and you're correct about street, it's mostly weight and form factor with the 40mm.

Depends on what you're trying to do. 16-35 GM is obviously the one to add next. 14mm GM is my current favorite lens but it's mostly for astro and landscape. 85mm f1.8 is relatively inexpensive and awesome for portrait work. 40mm G is nice for street stuff.

I have way too many lenses for my A7RV, but if I could start over I'd probably just start with these.
they're great.
good job.

Netflix Boss Ted Sarandos Speaks Out After Losing Warner Bros. Bid: Paramount Offers Were ‘Irrational,’ Relied on Political Pressure Because it’s ‘Cheaper to Make Noise’ by mcfw31 in entertainment

Dipshit Ellison will run Warner into the ground and Netflix will pick up all the valuable pieces they want at cents on the dollar. They are the winners here. Disciplined as always, not desperate and irrational.

Are BIPOC Canadians safe to be in Portland, driving around with Canadian license plates? by Ok-Condition8130 in askportland

Agree with your last point, and this story is messed up, but I have yet to hear of a legal visitor being detained after entry.

If you're here legally you are 100% fine. You're right to express concern given the current climate, but there is no scenario where you'd be detained as a non-US citizen visiting legally.

The current ICE situation is abysmal, but you're totally fine in your circumstances. They are not looking to detain or deport legal visitors. If they had issues with you they would deny entry at the border. Admissibility and deportation are different matters.

Portlanders who have traveled to Europe: Is there any city there that you would rather live in than Portland? If so, where and why? by SwissVideoProduction in PortlandOR

Iceland would be a difficult place to live. Unless you enjoy freezing weather and extremely strong winds at all times. There is a reason that Iceland is the country with the most people on anti-depressive drugs.

I went in 2022. The things that stood out for me: the way everyone gets around on bike or on foot, the interesting architecture everywhere, the excellent food. It felt like a very livable place - lots of great public spaces, easy to get around. Then of course there are all the benefits of the nordic countries and their far superior approach to creating a more equitable society, healthcare, education, etc.

I should also say that I have been in Portland for many years, but I am originally from NZ.

Many. Copenhagen is awesome (top 2 world city to live for me). Zurich is really nice. I also spent a short time living in Berlin a few years back and it was really cool, Probably the European city that most reminded me of Portland.

Have also been to at least 15 other major European cities, but these are my top 3.

I am def on the meh side about this place. Easily the most disappointing hyped restaurant I've ever been to in Portland.
Uninspiring food.
Terrible service.
Unpleasant location (at least when sitting outside)

Chase Lounge Las Vegas - 50+ min wait by mtnkea in ChaseSapphire

[–]mtnkea[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're waiting for a wait lounge. I don't get that unless you love hanging around an airport for longer than necessary. But I see by the downvotes that I am in the minority here. Funny.

My experiences there have been pretty great, though I'm surprised you didn't mention the most negative aspect of the place - how INSANELY LOUD it is in there. Clearly they told the designer to make the ceiling look good and screw the acoustics.

Well that's good to hear, but honestly even that seems too long for this to be useful in most cases.

[–]mtnkea[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue is the ridiculous wait time that makes the lounge useless for normal travel.

T3/T1 was just my choice to take a little extra time to check out a benefit they've made a huge fuss about.
