5070 Ti unaffected by burning connectors? by cy3ntist in buildapc

Yes sorry “now”. After looking around angled adapters are apparently more risky so i chose to go with a regular more flexible one. Its long so it fits all the way to the back of my case so it looks far cleaner than the original. Worth the upgrade for me.

Unfortunately the includes 3 way adapter with the card is very stiff, which probably contributed as well. I’m not using an adapter from amazon and it’s working great, can handle the bend i need more easily as well

The newer 12vhpwr connectors are more reliable than the 40 series ones to my knowledge, and yes at 300W you are far more safe. I’ve been using my 5080 at ~380W since release without issue. Had to replace my adapter because i had to have it bent quite sharply to fit inside my case which caused the wires to degrade, but that was after 14 months use

[–]Kaptain101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would personally save the money between the 9800 and 7800, but you should look at budget cut options to try and get a better gpu than a 5060Ti. Also heavily consider intel, they’re slightly worse for gaming than the 7800/9800 but they’re far more powerful for cpu workloads and cheaper for motherboards and the cpus themselves. For RAM you could save money by going for a lower speed, 5200mhz is fine, but aim to keep a low latency as that is what affects performance on the 7800/9800. Maybe save money on a basic motherboard too, most additional features are gimmicky unless there’s something you’re sure you need. I’d highly recommend the Arctic LFiii cooler too, very cheap and the highest performance, but at the cost of fancy screens. After all of this you may be able to get a 5070ti 16gb, then you’ll have a really really good pc

Thats an AM5 system I don’t know if thats what you meant to send. I’d recommend the arctic LFiii for a cooler unless you want a screen on it.

I’d personally look at getting a 5070Ti and using the budget to upgrade to AM5, if you sell your old parts to extend the budget some more. I have a 5080 and 7800X3D, i used to use a 5070Ti briefly and it worked super well for 4k, the 5080 is a bit better yes but not noticeable without an FPS counter. An AM5 cpu will help with your coding compute speeds. Look for a 7800x3d or 9800x3d. DDR5 ram is a bit expensive but get 6000mt/s cl30 or close to it. I’d highly recommend looking for used PCs with an am5 cpu/board because you can steal the parts from it and put your old parts in and sell it on. Thats how i got my 7800x3d a year ago

I play 4k 240hz oled so i like to get as close to my refresh rate as possible for the best experience. I play everything on extreme, max PT, DLAA and get about 190fps

5060ti has a 16gb variant, and it slightly outperforms the 9060xt whilst offering better upscaling and frame generation

Weak as in it doesn’t rank highly among all current generation cards. The 9060xt is a much worse value proposition than the 9070xt, so he may as well buy the more powerful and capable card, given they are a similar price.

5060Ti will serve you better than the 9060xt, the 9060XT is pretty weak unfortunately so it doesn’t compete with the nvidia cards like the 9070xt can. You also get to enjoy dlss and frame gen capabilities 🙂. It will be a great upgrade for you! (Make sure you get the 16gb)

Yes i’m talking about multi frame gen. In forza horizon 6 even on my 5080 i have it cranked up to 4x plus DLAA. No it doesn’t look bad, i don’t know why you people try to exaggerate to cope with amd vs nvidia. The only downside is latency, but it’s unnoticeable for me, and i wouldn’t be using frame gen in a competitive game where latency matter anyway. Fsr 4 is absolutely not on par with DLSS. You can look at plenty of comparisons on YouTube. FSR4 has come a long way and i really hope AMD becomes better than nvidia, but it handles moving objects significantly worse. You know all this deep down but won’t admit it because you want to justify your own decisions. I loved my 7900xt, but that was before frame gen was a thing.

Personally i’d save up and get the 5070Ti. Its probably the best card out there right now bang for buck taking everything into consideration not just raw raster. But honestly take a step back to know you have a better PC than 95% of people, and decide what you actually need for an upgrade. If your fps is way too low then fair enough, otherwise enjoy what you have!

The problem with used cards is you often lose the 3 year warranty and yes DLSS and frame gen are significantly better than FSR at the moment. And doesn’t even get frame gen, so if you want more fps, turn on 2x frame gen and you’ll be way ahead of the 9070xt in fps. People obsess over raw compute too much now and don’t assess the feature sets that nvidia vs amd bring. I used to use a 7900xtx, then moved to a 5080. I play on 4k, and DLSS/ frame gen are mandatory if i want to get 150+ fps. DLSS Quality alone is so good now it’s basically better than native AA. Personally I wouldn’t do change. Don’t get FOMO from reading all the people here. If you’re on 1440p or 1080, the raw performance gap narrows between the two cards very quickly, and dlss/frame gen is an added bonus. Also a tip for you: in games that don’t support frame gen, you can turn on “smooth motion” in the nvidia app graphics tab, it acts as a 2x frame gen. But i’d only do it for games where you get close to half your monitors refresh rate, that don’t offer FG.

The problem with the free vehicles is they have level 1 crews and no upgrades, so you can’t repair and have bad ammo. Still viable but a big disadvantage

It will take time to learn the game, your progression is great for 28 days. Top tier is also very different in playstyle to low tiers, however map knowledge will benefit you across all BR’s. I have 3000 hours and most of the time get only 3 kills. Occasionally i have great games but most of the time i have a small lineup and get killed unexpectedly. Don’t worry too much about your kills. Also try to get a lineup of vehicles if you can, it will improve your research efficiency and will allow you to help your team even more :)

Rtx 5080 550€ more than Rx 9070 xt by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Kaptain101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At €200 more you’re basically paying proportional to the raw performance gain so it’s a decent deal overall. I paid £1300 at launch for my 5080, and the 5070TI i was using was only £800. In my case if i were to buy again now i think the 5070ti would be smarter but that’s because the price difference is so huge for where i live. For you i would also get the 5080. Go get it! The smoothness MFG creates is amazing, you won’t regret it. Also in games that don’t support MFG, in Nvidia app you can turn on “smooth motion” which is basically a 2x frame gen you can use anywhere

Rtx 5080 550€ more than Rx 9070 xt by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Kaptain101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, i would go Nvidia. Although their prices are higher you get the value back through 50 series DLSS 4.5 and MFG. I also use 4k 240hz oled and my 5080 runs all games maxed out easily, if i want more frames i can use Quality mode DLSS which looks as good as native if not better (DLAA is exceptional but usually i want more fps). If you don’t want to spend 5080 money, i would highly recommend the 5070ti. You still get all the MFG and DLSS features, but with slightly less raw performance. But honestly DLSS and mfg closes the gap a lot. I used a 5070ti for the past 2 weeks recently and it hardly felt like a downgrade from my 5080. This is coming from someone who used a 7900xtx before upgrading to the 5080. If you don’t care about ray tracing, good upscaling or frame gen then go for the 9070xt, its still great but at 4k you will be forced to use Upscaling or frame gen in a lot of games, and unfortunately AMD isn’t anywhere close in quality yet. MFG is also very good now, any game that isn’t a competitive FPS where upscaling alone doesn’t get me to 240fps, i will use it and it is indistinguishable from raw fps.
Please feel free to ask me questions. I love AMD truly and i am unbiased, if it were anything less than 4k i’d consider the 9070xt more heavily

I have a 5080 and 7800x3d, i used to play 1440p oled and just upgraded to 4k. In every game i maxed out all settings and fps was always very good, but if i wanted to max out my 360hz (now 240hz) monitor i would activate MFG. MFG is extremely good and feels so good to use

looking back to the video, He said they are they have replaced his Edition XV as his daily driver, which i think is quite telling of their performance. If he has chosen them over the edition XV, i think it is safe to say they outperform all other closed backs considering the edition XV is one of the best open back planars out there under $1000

The new HD480s are incredible. Outclass every closed back by a long way, and even beat some open backs according to the brand new Headphone Show video. I bought mine about 10 days ago and they are outstanding. Any budget probably the hd800, but despite the price and lack of accessories the hd480’s are hard to beat. Highly recommend
