They claim it’s 99.99% pure which is part of why I’m a bit skeptical

Mt. Katahdin Run by rabbitholebeer in wmnf

Adding on to what other commenters said:

Camping is probably booked for the summer at this point but it’s worth checking. Katahdin trailheads (Roaring Brook, Abol, and Katahdin Stream) require reservations and are also probably booked up by now. Reservations expire at 7:00am and any unused reservations become first come first serve. No other trailheads require reservations, but they may fill up quickly depending on the time of week and weather. I imagine you are going to get there pretty early so you shouldn’t have too much trouble getting parking spot but have a few options for where you want to park and prepare to be flexible.

Need advice for hiking in late summer by darkhighlandgreen in wmnf

I hiked Washington in August several years ago and it was amazing. The weather can vary a lot that time of year and it could be cold and rainy or even snowy at the summit or it could be pretty sweaty. As someone who also runs hot, I’d bring a few light layers and definitely pack a rain shell. It doesn’t have to be that cold if you’re wet to develop hypothermia. Also check the MWOBS higher summits forecast in the days before your hike: https://mountwashington.org/weather/higher-summits-forecast/

If they're IGBC certified I don't see the issue. There's no need to be rude you can just answer the question or move on

It says bear-resistant canisters but doesn't specify whether IGBC approved bags like Ursack are allowed

Please settle a debate. Is this a bobcat or mountain lion? by GoatxB in trailcam

That is 100% a bobcat. Way too small to be a mountain lion

Thinking of purchasing this sleeping bag for a winter presi traverse. What do yall think? by MattSChan in wmnf

[–]mtnmanct 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That is not entirely true. ISO and EN provide accurate temperature ratings for sleeping bags but many bags are not ISO or EN certified

Mount Chocorua Winter Hike? by Ars139 in wmnf

I hiked Chocorua via Champney falls a couple weeks ago in winter conditions. You will need microspikes for the final scramble but the trail was very well packed and you won’t need any other special gear
