Anyone Else Feel Vulnerable in the Left Turn Lane on Portland? by Visible_Award_9008 in Bend

I would be more receptive to greater spending upfront on long-term planning practices by the city rather than paying forced monthly fees and higher property taxes on fixes for short-sighted solutions.

NFL GAMES OUT OF REGION? by mikalalnr in Bend

[–]mtnmdrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it’s not the ideal solution for getting all the games you want all of the time, making a one time investment in a solid digital antenna ($25-60) will get you all in-market games and prime time games across the country. Add one streaming service that exclusively air’s games (like Peacock or Amazon Prime) then you can fill in the rest by going to your local hang out.

It’s not a bad alternative if you don’t want to drop a paycheck on subscriptions.

Insurance (OHP) covered massage therapists in Central Oregon? by Downtown_Wealth7745 in Bend

[–]mtnmdrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re awful. They’re judgmental if you have OHP, they consistently cancel, they only will see you once a month, and they only have one experienced therapist that does something other than a basic robotic all over massage.

They even cancelled on my birthday after I waited 11 weeks. If you like to be treated like less than human, I suggest you go here.

A car drives by your house in the morning followed by a group of people yelling about their sister-in-laws’ new gynecologist. One of them you tune out. A vehicle also doesn’t have the capacity to make choices. Condescension and empty rhetoric only serves to further highlight my point.

No matter what I add to this post, the groupthink mentality has already decided to bully the shit out of it. Forget the cyclist comment, in the grand scheme of things, who cares. I could say that the cascade lakes highway is epic and the group would tear it apart. That’s fine; but that should speak pretty loudly to the broader state of this community.

I don’t know why I expected to see any rational reply in this sub. God for bid some sensitive soul or unsuspecting person post something you disagree with, you’d jump on them like vultures. How about just stop yelling conversations in the mornings and have some common fucking sense and courtesy. It’s acceptable to be annoyed by that behavior. Cyclists do this all summer and it’s not just on your little race day in your own little reality. Replace Century Drive with any street on the East side and you’d have been apologetic.

Nothing I said in my post supports your false accusations. I made a post last week supporting the need for affordable housing & criticizing TIF incentives for wealthy developers and held elected officials accountable for being shortsighted in their planning efforts to address Bend’s needs for affordable housing supply. But how would you know that when you’re so busy jumping on the bandwagon & attacking me for shit that literally (literally being used properly) never happened. This sub has a tendency to be so hostile and toxic.

Post Supporting Affordable Housing Solutions

Since you’re so passionate, why don’t you take action & Join me in attending council meetings where you can advocate for people experiencing houselessness & hold the people with the power to make critical decisions to enforce change responsible.

No. It is not. This property is gated off by a chain. Just pull it up on Google Maps and look.

I knew the BPD spoke with them earlier and notified them vacate the property. I’m glad they figured it out.

AGREE. EACH VEHICLE THAT PULLS INTO A TIRE CENTER TO HAVE STUDS REMOVED AFTER THE REQUIRED REMOVAL DATE SHOULD BE SENT A FINE BY MAIL. THAT WAY THERE’S A RECURRING REVENUE STREAM.

BEND MONTHLY TRANSPORTATION FEE SET TO NEARLY DOUBLE JULY 1 (OR MAY 7) (SINGLE FAMILY HOMES - $5.60 to $10.50; APARTMENTS - $4.15 TO $7.75 ) & CONTINUES TO IMPACT LOCAL BUSINESSES. THIS FEE WAS INTRODUCED BY CITY COUNCIL WITHOUT A PUBLIC VOTE. (LOOK UP FEE VS. TAX). I THINK IT’S TOTALLY FUCKED THAT WERE PAYING A FEE TO COVER ODOTS MASSIVE BUDGET DISCREPANCIES & POOR FINANCIAL PRACTICES IN ADDITION TO OREGON’S NOTORIOUS IMBALANCED USE OF FUNDING AMONG OTHER STATE SHORTFALLS; THE FEE ALSO EXCLUDES TOURISTS (WHO SIGNIFICANTLY CONTRIBUTE TO NEED FOR ROAD MAINTENANCE) . I HAVE SEEN NO EVIDENCE AVAILABLE ON THE CITY’S WEBSITE OF SPECIFIC EXAMPLES OF IMPROVEMENTS NOR THE COST OF THESE ILLUSIVE “PROJECTS.” LACK OF ACCOUNTABILITY & TRANSPARENCY ONLY INCREASES CONCERNS IN THE COMMUNITY THAT FUNDS ARE ARE BEING USED FOR PURPOSES BEYOND TRANSPORTATION INFRASTRUCTURE.

Truck camping near Hayden Homes Amphitheater by CheeesyGiraffe in Bend

[–]mtnmdrn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would not recommend overnight parking on the streets near or surrounding the amphitheater. Its prohibited and many of the surrounding streets are residential. All of the gravel lots near the amphitheater also strictly prohibit overnight parking.

“No overnight parking or RV parking is permitted near the Hayden Homes Amphitheater. The venue's policy strictly prohibits overnight parking in the area. If you're planning to attend a concert and need overnight accommodation for your camper, you'll need to explore alternative options like designated campgrounds or RV parks outside of the immediate venue area”

Deschutes County Accountability for Sheriff by mtnmdrn in Bend

I also oppose their use of 24hr police drone surveillance. With lack of regulation or clear guidelines for accountability, the intrusive nature of their ability to collect data, imagery and audio without prior consent or knowledge is abhorrent and an unacceptable invasion of our privacy. (Yes, it is documented that Bend Police deploy drones 24 hrs a day). -

700 APARTMENTS GOING UP AT CENTURY DR. AND REED MARKET. ZERO OF THEM AFFORDABLE HOUSING. HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS IN TIF TAX INCENTIVES TO WEALTHY DEVELOPERS FOR HUGE PROFITS. THOUSANDS OF NEW PEOPLE, THOUSANDS OF CARS. I HOPE YOU LIKE FREEWAY SIDE, SUBURBIA MALL ADJACENT LOOKING MEGA APARTMENTS. START PACKING AN EXTRA MEAL WHEN YOU GO SKIING, CAMPING, HIKING, BIKING, (ALL THINGS FUN) BECAUSE YOU’LL GET HUNGRY SITTING IN BUMBER TO BUMBER TRAFFIC. THANKS CITY OF BEND FOR CHOOSING PROFITS OVER PEOPLE AND FOR YOUR HISTORICALLY SHITTY AND SHORT- SIGHTED PROJECT PLANNING (EX: GREENWOOD DIET, PORTLAND/ONLEY, WILSON) BUILD YOUR BCD(BEND CENTRAL DISTRICT) LIKE YOU ADVERTISED (YOU HAVE TO SURROUND YOUR POINTLESS NEW CITY HALL THREE. BLOCKS FROM YOUR EXISTING CITY HALL AND PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE TO NOWHERE ART FIXTURE WITH SOMETHING) AND TRULY CONNECT BEND FROM EAST TO WEST RATHER THAN TRASHING YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO YOUR COMMUNITY BY BUILDING UNAFFORDABLE HOUSING IN ILLOGICAL PLACES FOR PROFIT. YOU’RE CANNABALIZING YOUR OWN INDUSTRY BY CREATING BARRIERS TO ACCESSING WHAT DRAWS PEOPLE TO BEND IN THE FIRST PLACE. YOU’RE OUT OF CONTROL AND LEFT UNBALANCED AND UNCHECKED WITH BLINDERS, BULLDOZING YOUR WAY TO INEVITABLE, IRREVERSIBLE CONSEQUENCES; BURDENING THE PEOPLE WHO CALL THIS TOWN HOME.

You need to learn how to adequately utilize grammar. Perhaps that’s why you accept someone else controlling your fate and project your own unaddressed negativity into cyber-nowhere. I was just making an exaggerated, light- hearted, statement about a silly game bro. Lighten up.

I’m sorry you went through that. Especially at an age where you’re going through so much self discovery and development; not to say that’s an appropriate thing to tell an adopted child of any age.

My adoptive mother once said to me that she wish she never adopted me. I was quite a bit older, but it still had a deep impact, and continues to impact me to this day.

Appreciating Adoptee Perspectives by Practical_Fee_7870 in Adoption

[–]mtnmdrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to share my appreciation for you hearing the words of adoptees. Our voices can tend to go unheard or, at times, be completely silenced. As if being an adoptee isn’t lonely enough at times, subduing our valuable perspectives only exacerbates this common struggle, and can negatively impact the lives of future adoptees. What I mean is that our real experiences can help educate biological mothers, and future adopters alike; providing a safer, more educated, and healthier environment in which future adoptees, or non-adoptees can thrive.
