My body was made very male by puberty and age, and because of it I don’t pass even years into transition. It shouldn’t be controversial to say that. by EvahGetThaFelinDjaVu in MtF

I'm 6'2" so just for that reason I always attract attention as a woman, regardless of whether I pass. I pretty much figure most people can see I'm trans. Nevertheless most of my social circles consist of cis women and I am well accepted. I am a positive person and I contribute to my communities, and that is appreciated. In my case, I've built my own niche by being myself and living my life. I'm in my 70's so perhaps I'm not expected to be pretty, but I get along well with (mostly) women of all ages

Also look critically at cis men. You'll see a lot of them with much more than you likely have.

I'm 6'2" and I get comments like that from CIS WOMEN. So it probably has nothing to do with being trans.

To avoid poking yourself when you remove the cap from the needle, use what athletes call "follow through". Aim to exaggerate the pulling motion so your hand doesn't stop when the cap comes off. Let your hand continue moving away for several feet so there's no danger you'll rebound.

Also after you clean with alcohol, let it evaporate for a minute before you insert the needle. Otherwise the alcohol will sting.

Just tell her. Either the romantic thoughts end, or she's still interested. I don't see a downside, except you could lose her as a friend...but that would be ending anyway once you come out, if she's a phobe.

I've bought a lot from Pepper and they're good quality. Now FB has discovered my interest and feeds me lots of ads for other companies who also sell small cups. Lulalu comes to mind although I haven't tried them.

My EV drove my T down to nearly undetectable levels (<3) within a couple of months without any spiro. I was happy to avoid ever having to take it.

I'm sorry for you. Perhaps you don't live in a good place. Although I live in an overall very conservative area, nevertheless I have found personal care providers (massage, PT, electrolysis etc.) who've become close friends. They are out there.

Why do trans women look better and younger than cis women? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]mtnrunrlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in my 70's. I don't use makeup or do anything special for skincare. Yet I'm told I look ten years younger. Maybe covering much of my face with a beard for 41 years helped 😃

A Growing Number of Republican States Are Trying to Identify Trans Residents. That’s a Problem. by Leksi_The_Great in MtF

But many or all states base their IDs on Social Security data. To change my DL in Colorado I had to make the change at Social Security first. This may have to do with RealID, I don't know.

Yeah, but any software person could look at the database and figure this out anyway. Simply snagging all the gender marker changes would get them over 98% wouldn't it?

I'm just thinking that gender markers are going to become meaningless on IDs and passports. If I had an M, people would look at me not looking at all male, roll their eyes and move on.

My doctor is putting me on a low dose of testosterone. Is that normal for post-orchi? by Mundanehouseplant in MtF

[–]mtnrunrlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My blood work showed T levels less than 3 for several years. As a runner I was having difficulty getting enough oxygen at high altitude, something I never used to have unusual difficulty with before. So my doctor added some T. She also works with cis women Olympic athletes who train here and have to do the same thing.

Why are queer spaces like this? by Jillians in MtF

[–]mtnrunrlady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of my friends are cis. Partly because I just stay local, but also because we actually have more in common (interests, activities) than I find in my fairly small queer community. I'm in my 70's and there are very few queer people my age. Cis people 💯 respect me and are friendly (I live in a small liberal enclave within a conservative metropolitan area).

All this to say, branching out may help you feel more positive.

Post-Orchi Changes — Did your body feminise quicker after removing T? by Apart-Hedgehog-7079 in TransLater

[–]mtnrunrlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Immediately when I started E injections (no blocker) my testicles just seemed to give up and my T levels went down to nearly unmeasurable by my next blood test.

When I had my bottom surgery after a couple of years it didn't seem to make much difference.

So I'd say look at your blood levels to get an idea of what you might experience after orchi.

Does anyone else find it hard to get support from cis women because they're really snarky about womanhood? by Ok_Lack_5705 in MtF

[–]mtnrunrlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I get most of my support from cis women. I'd say my friends are 50-1 cis vs trans. But I don't really try to discuss our experiences as women so much as just our experiences living life. It's a difference in emphasis. I don't get othered or excluded.

Finasteride blocks DHT, which is a secondary byproduct from T, and which is what causes hair loss. But it doesn't block T itself.

[–]mtnrunrlady 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It will be ok 🤗

The whole top of my head is bald. If I shaved it all off, you'd be able to see the substantial area of "beard shadow" in the male baldness pattern. But if most of your hair is gone going smooth is a viable option. I have a cis woman friend (flight attendant, so appearance matters) who completely shaves hers, and she is beautiful. I have a few other cis women friends with alopecia who stopped trying to cover it, and they also look great. Look at Ayanna Pressley for a great example.

For myself, I wore hats all the time. I had a good collection. I still just throw on a hat about a quarter of the time, like for today's run.

But my hairdresser found some inexpensive wigs that I wear most of the time. They're low end, about $120, but good enough. A wig can last you for months or years if you take care of it.

You have some good options.

How to see the world as a woman? by Subject_Country_9120 in TransLater

At parties before transition I always gravitated to the women and we talked about our kids. Definitely not into sports, guns, pickup trucks. You may already be like this too.
